    4 Days to go! My new 82SN2001 in South Africa

    Hi All:

    I am in the process of buying an 82SN 2001 for the equivalent of USD6900. These things are as scarce as hens teeth here in South Africa. I think this is a fair buy? Your thoughts? I will be building her up to showroom condition over the next few years and take great pleasure in teaching my son (5 yrs old) to board in one of the most beautiful areas in SA. I live in Nelspruit which is about 30min drive from the Kruger National Park.

    I have attached a few pics. Great site with great info. Thanking you all.

    The boat looks pretty good to me right now. So glad you could get a Nautique in South Africa.

    Congrats and welcome to the family of Nautiques.

      Thanks nautiqueman. Here is a list i would like to use to check out the boat. Anything i've missed?

      What is the rig GVM (combined weight on trailer, should be on the trailer ticket);
      What is the hitch weight (a bathroom scale under the jockey wheel should do the trick);
      What are the total motor hours;
      When last was the following replaced (in hours or date)
      - Impeller
      - Motor oil and filter
      - Gearbox oil
      - Fuel filter
      - Air filter
      Are there any oil or fuel leaks on the motor or gearbox?
      Are there any leaks on the motor cooling system?
      Is the oil pan rusted?
      When was the motor last serviced and what was done?
      Has the motor been overhauled? If so, when and what was done and by whom?
      What are the results of a compression test per cylinder. Would you be prepared to perform one on my arrival?
      Are any rubber hoses and belts on the motor worn damaged or perished?
      Does the transmission shift smoothly between forward and reverse?
      Does the prop and rudder have any dents, bends or chips?
      Are all three tracking fins under the boat in line and undamaged i.r.o dents chips or bends?
      Do all the gauges and ergonomics work?
      Does the bilge pump run smoothly without any noise indicating damage?
      Does the blower run smoothly without any noise indicating damage?
      When in neutral, does the prop rotate smoothly when spun by hand in both directions?
      Does the boat have any historical accident damage that was repaired?
      Does the boat have any spider cracks and bubbles in the gelcoat? If so, where?
      Does the steering rotate smoothly across the full turning circle?
      Does the boat have a spare wheel, bimini cover (shade) and a boat cover?
      If you walk around the entire floor (also under bow by hand) and exert firm heel pressure, are there any soft spots on the floor? If so, where?
      Open the engine cover and you’ll notice hex head bolts, about 4 on each side running parallel to the motor on the edge of the floor, on the edge of the engine compartment. When you tighten these with a socket, do they bite well and lock up or do they spin freely?

      Thanking you.

        List looks extensive and detailed. Need to run it and see if there is any vibration at 30 mph in the mirror. If you see excessive vibration, you know you have a prop or shaft problem. Also- no air filter on these boats.

          I put this together with the help of others. It was helpful when I was inspecting the 1998 SN I now own.
