    My recent purchase/ project.

Here are some pics of my 93 sport nautique I just picked up this weekend.

Goods- 550hrs pro boss 351, 1 yr old interior, monster tower.

bads- Trailer needs some TLC, gelcoat is faded.

    My list.
    1) GET A COVER, looking at a sunsetter material type cover.
    2) Tint windshield- 20% = almost done
    3) Buff out Gel coat. _ any pointers on products to use would be helpful.
    4) Redoing the teak platform- any recomended products??
    5) make some larger plates for the monster tower since it has some hiarline stress cracks around it.
    6) Redo this rustbucket of a trailer. Anyone know where I can get some fenders????

Thanks for the help in advance, I will start searching the forum for info.

That is funny to me. My friend has a "Hydrodyne" (I have never heard of that company) but it looks Identical in striping and colors as well as general shape/design of the boat as the one pictured(no tower though, and obviously no "Sport Nautique" logo on the side) I wonder if anyone on the forums knows if Hydrodyne liscenced the design from Nautique or just a similar design or what?

also- I'm pretty sure that you can adjust those racks so the boards don't look so funny. With the Monster racks you need to loosten the allen bolts and the head will pivot to the desired angle.

I would start with a buffer and some fairly aggressive compound. Wetsanding is a lot of work, so I would try and buff first.

yeah they are the monster racks, I plan on adjusting them. Not sure why the guy had them that way?

Don't miss those color schemes. Probably would be cheaper and definately a lot easier to buy a new trailer. You can usually find a good used one if you're patient. May have been a salt water boat seeing it's from FL and trailers probably to far gone. The oxidation doesn't look too bad. I've seen a lot worse come back to life just got to put some elbow grease into it. Good luck. Would love to see some after pics.

Save the elbow grease and give this stuff a try. I used it on my 89 Sunsetter and it made a huge difference. I had to reapply every couple of years. I beleive that it is very similar to Vertglass...

Yeah I would eventually like to do a boat wrap to make it look a little newer.

The trailer only has surface rust except for the fenders which need to be replaced. I think a little time with an angle grinder and wire wheel and some good paint (black epoxy) some wiring and some new fenders (any idea where to get them?) and some wood and carpet and this trailer will be like new.

Not a saltwater boat just not that well taken care of = sat outside uncovered. But that is why I got a good deal and a new project on my hands.

I think a trailer would look good Rhino-lined?

I imagine that would be expensive. I plan on wiping it all down with a rust preventer/primer then laying a couple coats of epoxy on it.

When you pull the carpeted steps off the trailer you may want to put something back in place of the carpet. As a flat surface that doesn't drain well the carpet holds moisture against the trailer and we all know the result. I ground off as much rust as I could, primed with rustoleum and repainted, then replaced with rhino-coated plywood. Very nice, as it dries almost immediately once it's out of the water. I kept my templates so if I run into problems with the wood I can easily replace them. I'm sure there are better replacement options (I've yet to find a decent one yet, tho) but it's a much better solution than going back to the carpeted steps.

Looks like you have a great project! Cleaning it up will do wonders!

Might also throw in I had a 94 Sport I absolutely loved, but the Gen 1 FCT rattled quite a bit and I eventually decided I wanted to try out a v-drive. I don't think you'll have any issues with that Monster! tower, tho!!

Great Idea with rhino lining the plywood instead of doing carpet!!! I need to replace the fenders on the trailer unfortunately, any ideas on where to get replacements?

This is my first boat and I am in love, It has plenty of power and throws a sick wake with 5 water bed tubes and some lead in the back. tubes are 6" in diameter and 6' long. I have 2 in the ski locker and 1 on each side of the motor box as well as one along the rear seat. Plus 160lbs of lead under the rear seat.

                          UPDATE
So far I have cleaned and protected the interior with 303.
Got a subrella custom fit cover by coversports off EBAY for $300 I cant believe the quality for the $$$!! http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Boat-Cov...__W0QQ_armrsZ1
The Teak Deck is off and is currently on coat #2 of the 3 part STARBRITE SYSTEM & is looking great!!!
I started removing the SPORT NAUTIQUE DECALS yesterday with a $10 HF Heat gun= alot easier. I think I will leave the hull bare besides the smaller nautique emblems on the sides towards the rear. Or throw a first gen AIR symbol on the side.
Hopefully I can start wet sanding the scratches out next week and get this thing shining.
Ive got to paint these white tower speakers black and retint the windshield 20% becuz the 5% was too dark.

There are a number of places to get your fender, however it may not be an exact fit.
                            Norhtern Tool: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...atchallpartial

                            http://www.trailerpartsdepot.com/searchresult.asp

                            http://www.kmtparts.com/catalog.asp?...showprevnext=1

if you need more just google "trailer fender". Or you can try a local trailer dealer/repair/supply shop, depending on where you live.

Well I got all the decals removed and started wet sanding the scratches with 1000 grit. I got some adhesive remover to take care of the sticker film left behind. I hope to be buffing it out by the end of next week.
