    220 Makeover

OK, through all my blood, sweat, and tears I thought I would share my new to me Nautique. I bought the 2007 SANTE last July which really did not have much curb appeal to me. I have also been accused of being 'a little picky' with my boat. So, about 30+ hours of wetsanding and polishing later I was happy with the finish. I certainly was not going to put that drab factory graphic back on so I watched the for sale section for the graphics you see now. I also replaced the carpet and SANO for SeaDek which really gave the interior and platform an updated look. Lastly, I polished the tower to a mirror finish. Yeah, that last improvement was not as easy as you might think. I would have liked to just upgrade to the newer FCT but I really like the beefy look of mine and it's rock solid. Other items: re-propped, new interior LED lights, new forks for the wakeboard racks to hold surf boards, upgraded to the new plastic vents, and that's about it for this season. I still (always) have a list of wants and needs but it's time to enjoy it now and save that for the off-season.

You left tint on half the windshield? Any reason?

The tint was way too dark to see through reasonably. I am planning to replace with something like 10%. I guess I just left the side windows because I do like the shade it gives. But when I tint the front it will probably look goofy having two different shades of tint. If I remove it, my wings would probably show up better .

I purchased my 220 in August and added the crest graphic. Can you share some pictures of your SeaDek floor. I added the SeaDek to my swim platform and interior but not the floor. Also do you have spinner racks? if so what forks did you use to be able to fit your surfboard. Why did you re-prop and what did you go to?

Thanks and your boat looks great!

                  Hi Dwayne,

Yes, I have the stock swivel racks. However, I bought the updated racks (http://www.nautiqueparts.com/boardra...pairparts.aspx) for a few hundred bucks and retrofit them on my swivels (direct bolt on). Then I cleaned up my old ones and sold them on CL for $150. The updated racks easily accomodate a surf board. The boat had the stock 845 prop so I updated to the 1579 which performs much better. I will have to post some pics of the SeaDek.

Im looking to upgrade my prop as well. Any reason you went with the 1579 over the 1235?

                        Thanks,
