Whats wrong with beaching your boat? As long as there isn't any gravel or rocks in the sand, I don't see anything really wrong with it. I'm pretty sure the fiberglass is strong enough to withstand rubbing against the sand.

If you have any color on the hull, especially black, you will noticeably scuff the gel coat's finish. I was forced to beach my black nautique once. I was super gentle and it was nice clean, fine sand. It dulled the gel coat and it took me hours to get my mirror shine back. I will NEVER beach it again! It's literally like taking sand paper to the finish.

Taken during a break in the rain we had a few weeks ago in Northern Cal.
Only 5 weeks to go 'til they raise the water all the way up and I can get my boat off of the lift again... (I waited 30 minutes too long the day they lowered the lagoon and ended up being stuck on the lift all winter, which worked out ok b/c I could then run power to the boat for the small heater that has kept it bone dry).
