If it IS bad, just get it rebuilt. If you can't get it rebuilt, you can buy an auto alt. as long as you put it back in the marine case. Put the batt. on a charger and see if it does anything diff. Or just try to jump it with another car.

Sorry I put this post is in the wrong forum.
I took the starter to a repair shop and he said it was unrebuildable. So then he tried to find me a new one. These starters are not hard to find but are expensive. I called the correct craft dealer and he wanted 300.00, I called some place online and they wanted 479.00. The guy at the repair shop found me one for 200 though so that isnt as bad.
Is there any practical reason that the motor in this boat turns backwards other than so you cant put auto parts on it??

Some would say all the other boats turn backwards.
I've never been able to find a definitive answer. The feedback/myths/
rumors/truths? I've heard are that it was originally designed
to balance the right hand lean created by driver weight on the small, weight sensitive ski boats. As time went on, and boats got bigger, CC just stayed with it as the standard. Who knows? I've just heard this explanation pretty consistently.2001 Super Air

One other practical reason. Almost everyone circles skiers/boarders/foilers
with the drivers side closest to the skier (it is safest when you can see your
skier). On a CC, if you put it in reverse, the tail of the boat will move left
away from the skier. On most of the other boats, the tail will move right
toward the skier. Once again, CC is safest on the market.
