I eliminated the kick panel and designed the enclosure with an "ear" on it that mounts to the aluminum upright to which the kick panel formerly attached. You can see it in one of the pictures. That piece was originally part of that elevation of the enclosure, but it was too difficult to get the box in and out of the space with that piece attached, so I cut it off, re-sprayed the exposed edges with the same material, and used a couple of aluminum angle brackets to attach the two pieces together.

      Hi scarbs,

I am in the process of removing all the carpet from my 2002 SANTE. In reading your build post from last year, you mentioned you rebuilt the bow floor piece and the ski locker lid with UHMW...and you were able to gelcoat those without any adhesion problems? I am new to working with these materials, so hope to benefit from your experience.

Your boat came out amazing, btw!!!

        Shawnb7,

I used 3/4" HDPE/UHMW. And although I did make a new bow piece out of the HDPE, I only added HDPE to the ski locker lid and main floor panel edges to fill the gaps in the floor and raise it to be level with the rest of the floor.

But I did not gel coat any of it. I used a urethane bedliner. And only after I had already applied a high-grade epoxy primer. This way, I was also able to coat my plastic seat bases, gunnel cupholders, etc. in the same material. I have no idea how gel coat would adhere to the plastic and other surfances. Somehow, I don't think it would work very well. Although, it may adhere to a good primer like I used. If you're going to gel coat your floor, I would check with the gel-coat guys before using the HDPE to build up the floor pieces. You may have to add fiberglass to the floor pieces if you're going with gel coat.

Let me know if you have other questions.

        And thanks for the compliment...

Oh, that's right, you went with the Monstaliner. Thank you for the info! Overall, did you notice a huge loss of sound dampening after getting rid of all that carpet?

I have now removed every shred of carpet from the floor and walls and replaced with EVA foam and do not notice any difference whatsoever.

Thanks for your kind words. I did not make the swim platform bigger. I bought a teak platform from a bigger model and cut the sides down to fit. We liked it much better.

Love the combo of Seadek and Teak on the transom where the swim platform meets the transom. Looks super !!

Do you still have the measurements of the seadek for the top deck stuff? I dont see myself replacing carpet but would love the top deck seadek

I don't, but Zach at N3Boatworks has the CADs for all of the pieces and they can be ordered all together or individually subject to SeaDek's minimum ordering requirements, which I think is around $175.

I am interested in some of those top deck pieces as well. I am getting close to placing my order with Seadek for the floor for my 1998 Super Sport. Seadek sent me Jared's floor template, but I don't think they sent me the template for the top deck pieces. At this point I have removed all carpet/glue, and primed the floor, etc with the primer from Monstaliner. I have reassembled interior and next step is to layout Jared's template and mark changes to it and then send to Seadek. I will ask about the template for the top deck pieces and possibly how to order and how much.

How much work is involved in removing the carpet & glue? What did you use to remove the glue? Contemplating something similar on my 97' SS

Do you know which bigger boat model you used...I didn't realize how much real estate that platform has now...am very curious if i could do the same on my 95 SS... btw, your boat looks brand new...I am so interested in Seadek now because of your boat.. I would love to get the deck stuff, it looks like an identical size fit with mine
