New to me 02 SN 196

So I picked up an 02 SN with under 200 hours a few weeks back. Just getting around to detailing it since it was pretty dirty and never detailed with any sort of OCD. Tower is gone since we strictly slalom ski and never wakeboard.





Mostly just working on cleaning the interior. Here is a before and after.





Next up is to polish up the diamond plate on the trailer. My wife and I both love shiny diamonds. I just prefer aluminum and she prefers aged carbon.

Over the winter I have to polish the whole boat and get the gelcoat repaired from the tower holes.

The interior looks fantastic!! I love how even the stitching is back to a clean look. What did you use (besides a can of elbow grease)?

Thanks, I used a 6" DA Polisher from Harbor Freight with an upholstery attachment that I picked up on Amazon. I then used LA Totally Awesome to clean it. There is a thread on MasterCraft Team Talk which is where I learned about it and has some helpful steps. Basically spray it on let it sit for a minute. Spray it again. Use upholstery brush to do the scrubbing. Wipe clean with warm water. Spray 303 to protect the vinyl from drying out. Took about 3 hours to do the interior on my SN.

Thanks for the comments. Yeh the tower was hideous and doesn't belong on a ski boat. The boat was used very little and I picked it up from the original owner. Had less than 200 hours on it. It wasn't trashed but it was never cared for by someone who has OCD. Thankfully it was garage stored so the vinyl is soft, just really really dirty. Gelcoat is in good shape with no oxidation. I have the whole winter to get it detailed so my goal is to just work on bits and pieces at a time and not rush it.

My 02 SN came with a tower too; sold it on Craigslist.

Made 4 custom bimini strap tie-downs out of aluminum plate and eye bolts to cover the holes left by the the tower feet.

All 4 of my tower feet were identical rectangular shape. I had a shop cut aluminum top and backing plates as well as matching black rubber gaskets. Sandwiched the hull between the plates. Plate/Gasket/Hull/Gasket/Plate.

The shop drilled 4 holes for the bolts that matched the original tower mounting screw holes. I drilled a center hole for a ss eyebolt where the bimini strap attaches. Works great and no new holes in the boat and no fiberglass work to fix tower holes. I did need to crawl into bow to put washers and nuts on underside of the 2 bow plate.

My only small complaint is the right rear bimini eyebolt will catch the rope as the skier pulls up on the boat to sit down at the end of a pass. This is only a nuisance when the bimini is off during the winter ski season.
