Well, it's not in Costa Rica yet but it's on its way

I've had an '85 2001 for about 7 years that I used for my wakeboard school. Put almost 1500 hours on it, now getting really close to 3000 hours total!
Since I'm a bit too far away to take a quick peek myself I asked here and on CCFan if someone could go and check it out for me. 3 People responded (thanks guys!!) and Silver 15 did go and see it and it turned out to be a good boat. Not perfect but doesn't need much.
When I did some research I found this posting in the diaries on CCFan. Cool story, plus a previous owner located and contacted. Thanks for the info and pic Bret!

It'll be here in about a week or so. Can't wait to take my first set behind it!

Just a detail but something I'm really happy with is the pylon on the back instead of in the center. Not standard for a '97.

Somewhere in the next year I plan to install auto-ballast. First I'll enjoy it as it is!

Mil gracias Jake/Silver15 for all your help!

Like that color scheme. Was the pylon a conversion by a previous owner or did nautique offer that as an option back then? That's what ruled out a pre 2001 or 2002 SAN/SS for me when I was shopping for my boat.

        Thanks Quinner!

I really don't know about the pylon. I don't think it was an option back then, or you would see many more with it I'm sure. Maybe because it was built for Walt, that it was done at the factory?

          Time for an update!
It got here right before I went on vacation, so I haven't used it that much yet. Also 'cause I already had to change the fuel pump. Gave me the opportunity to also change the tracking fin:

No clue what happened, must have been during transport to Costa Rica. Luckily had another one laying around.

Then also spent a day polishing etc. Looks great again!

Haven't ridden behind it with lots of ballast yet, but loving it so far! Also, you don't always need huge wakes to have fun. Best rides are rides like this:

Putting the cover on is a royal pain in the arse, so if anyone has tips on where to find a good one (for mooring) that'd be great.
Also going to be looking for a used Perfect Pass system, so if you know where to find one... holler!
Auto-ballast is another expense I'll be making rather sooner than later.
Oh yeah, suck gate; there's a few affordable ones out there now (Tsunami, one from a guy on this site I think, plus saw another one somewhere). Anyone tried them, any recommendations?

Never met a tower cover I like yet! The 4 point towers make covering a huge PITA. Assuming you have a draw string, if so you could add some hardware/clips between the tower legs, get creative. I also have a handful of snaps on short straps along each side of the cover, they snap to underside of the rub rail, those really help snug the cover up tight.

Anyone have any idea what these switches underneath the steering wheel are for? They're not connected to anything atm.

For those in colder climates, those that can't ride yet... a few quick clips of a kid that I'm coaching and who's been riding better than ever since I got the Super Sport. Thanks Correct Craft!
