New to me 2007 SANTE 220

I'm new to the club with a 2007 SANTE 220 and want to say hello. I'll wait another month or so to unwrap the boat and will post more pics then.
The boat has no side graphics. I'd love to get some opinions on some options I photo-shopped. I'll post those up soon.

Any specific watch-outs on the ZR6 other than the PITA process to change the impeller?
Any recommended vinyl shops in Dallas? How are the skins from NautiqueParts.com?

After 16 years of MasterCraft I'm giving CC a shot (I go by Ryan on TeamTalk for you forum hoppers). If you know someone that's interested in a '07 X1, send them my way.

Welcome aboard. I think you're gonna love the wake on the 220 coming off your X1.

The one major drawboack you will notice with the 220 is holeshot. Much like the 210 as well it just won't get out of the hole fully weighted like the X1 did if you had the 1235 on it.

As far far as graphics and skins. One thing you will notice is accessories and parts are much much cheaper on the Nautique side . Nautique parts is great to work with . They also offer a planet Nautique member discount. The staff there is very helpful. I would throw some of the more modern style graphics on there from Nautique parts. As far as skins. They all come from Nautique factory. So what your getting is top notch. The patterns are all pre cut . You should still be able to get all the original skins. Again a skin from Nautique is about half as much as MC's. If by some chance your original skins are not available , Christine's Marine is a great source . Little more of a premium than a standard local vinyl shop, but they are Nautique Quality. You'll want to shorten your rope about 5 ft depending on what speeds and length you were riding in your X1.

What kind of weight were you running in your X1? I cluld
also give you ballast advice on the 220 if I knew that.

Hi Ryan, welcome to the dark side, well not the dark side but... you know what I mean.

As far as graphics I love the chromax "super air nautique" especially with your color combo.

Can't wait to see more pics!

Swatguy, you crack me up. I'm sure there are plenty of MC guys that would call you Benedict Arnold, but I think you're great. Your posts are typically very honest and helpful to anyone who needs help. Especially if they're coming from a MC. Kudos to you. It's good to have people like you on this forum.

As for the boat, that's one of the better looking 220's I've seen. If it were mine, I would powder coat the windshield frame in satin black so it looked anodized, powder coat the tower (gloss?) black, tint the windows a bit and put the current black SAN Chromax letters on the sides. It would be so clean, sporty and updated looking. After that, I'd be putting some tunes in it if they were needed. Of course, I love spending other people's money.

Nice boat! I just made the switch from the 205v hull to a Nautique 210 as well. As swatguy said Nautiqueparts is a great site!

Anyone know how long it should take to get a skin quote from them?

Good looking 220. I just completely rebuilt a 2007 220 (went to bare hull - pulled every single part out).

I went with a local vinyl shop on the interior. I have three small kids who eat cheese balls every waking moment on a boat. The skins through Nautiqueparts.com require that you buy at least four of the seats to replace the vinyl. Apparently they changed the way they wrap the giant folding seats, as they tend to tear at the base. Last I checked (2 years ago) they would not make the vinyl in the old style for your old seat (which it likely is, as it's a 2007).

I contact Christine's Marine to try and get skins. When I called (2 years ago) they had not created templates for the 220, so I had to send my skins in for them to match - and then install myself when they came back. Of course, Christine's Marine apparently can add the OEM logos and use the exact material. My local vinyl place took my seats, make similar covers (not exact) without the emblems, and installed the new vinyl for about $1200 less than any other option I had. I did install pet screen on the underside of the seats (the stock ones had vinyl on the undersides, but it faces a storage container and I'm not that picky). Not perfect, but they should withstand the abuse of three young kids. I put the money saved on very good vinyl (instead of oem vinyl) toward a new FCT-5 tower and a used Z5 bimini

I have the chromax decals - they were EXPENSIVE. This is about the only thing I paid someone to do on this boat (other than reprogram the PCM engine - my scanner did not have the correct software). $40 and my decal guy installed them. I was too worried that I would not install them straight.

Thanks Mark. I always try to give advice about things from personal experiences and point out the pros and cons of each. I try to stay out of the fanboy/owners goggles aspects and give it straight up. I have taken my shilackings from people for doing it , but giving honest feedback and pointing a out pros and cons of each in order to help and inform people asking legit questions is what these forums are all about. Sometimes brand A pulls ahead and sometimes brand B pulls ahead. Each scenario is different for every owner /perspective owner. Everybody these days is pumping out a great product. There are just certain aspects that make one product a better fit for someone over the other

you mean because you submitted one already via their site? I know they shutdown for few weeks between Xmas and new year so they may be playing catch up on that. Give them a ring if you haven't heard from them. I also have the full pricing sheet . I'll grab it later this week and send it to ya .

Thanks for the welcome! Good to see ya over here. I could totally do the cross-over crest design and found out there's a matching size to add "Super" to the front. I haven't played with that one yet for mocking up the final.

I just ran the X1 stock. With my family of 6, we had plenty of extra ballast. I'll miss the crossover ability but am making friends with some buys on private lakes for course time in between getting progressing with WB & surfing.

Thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome.

I really like the Chromax and would love to find a couple of specific G decals that I like but can think of a whole lot of other things to spend money on. I see Activewake.com has some but they start at $730/side. The PN discount at nautiqueparts is helpful, but Chromax is still pretty spendy, especially with shipping costs that have a linear relationship to the cost of an item, not the size.

Not my boat, but the same gel scheme (found on Google) and added some representative wheels. Today, the last two are my favorites.

So, what do you think of these options for modernizing the boat?
                      Which option modernizes the boat?
Which makes this 220 most appealing? Click image for larger version Name:	220 current.jpg Views:	1 Size:	34.4 KB ID:	509853

Someone tell me if I'm full of it or not, but haven't almost all towers gone back to black for the last 6-7 years? With that color combo, that tower is begging to be black and powder coating is CHEAP. If you're looking to modernize, you'll get way more bang for your buck if you powder coat it than spending big bucks on new decals. Just my opinion. I'll shut up now.

Black tower would look pretty sick

my vote is second from the bottom out of choices you posted.

the original" swoosh " doesn't look bad in your gel scheme either

It is an FCT-5 tower. Not entirely sure which years received this tower. Bought it through nautiqueparts.com. It was a hassle to get it from the manufacturer (not Correct Craft and absolutely no fault of nautiqueparts.com), so nautiqueparts pulled it from their website. I bought it unpainted, but you could buy it painted with a number of stock colors for a few hundred more. I had my local paint shop spray it three colors(metallic silver to match the decals, white at the base to match the boat, and blue on the exterior). Traded work out with the paint shop otherwise I couldn't justify spending that much on paint when I could have got a stock color for cheap. Also I did quite a bit of bondo/wetsanding on the tower. The welds weren't the best and I wanted to hide some of the bad spots (metallic silver shows every imperfection).
