Well Jeff I guess you'll now be known as the the Nauti Lady. Truth be know, if i had 3 Nautiques I would be married to the Angri Lady! Lol. Rock it while you can! Btw, your kids look great. I hope they enjoy!

Evening Shade I am very pleasantly surprised at how well my wife took this purchase. This was an awful time for me to buy another boat. We just (like, this past week) moved out of our house into a temporary place so that we can sell our current house and buy a better place on the water. She has been pretty cool about the whole thing, which is great!

Pretty cool buying a turnkey boat you can run the day after you buy it! Looks really sharp on the water. How does it cruise with the Volvo? Get up on plane easy enough?

It does pretty well. It has 2-year-old gas in the tank right now, so it is sputtering a little through that old gas, but it runs pretty smoothly, considering. It starts up very well, and it sounds cool. There are no mufflers on this boat! The electronics will need some work. The voltmeter and the oil pressure gauges work, but the temperature and fuel gauges do not. The tach doesn't work either. Sure is easy to get to everything though. The whole center console folds forward for engine access, and you can get to the back of the dash that way too.

It isn't a screaming fast boat, but it moves along pretty well. I need to be sure the throttle lever at the helm is opening the throttle all the way on the engine. It has trim tabs, but the hydraulic pump for those is missing. I am still deciding if I want to put in a new pump or remove the tabs.

I've never driven, or rode in one, but I'd suggest keeping the tabs. There looks like there is a lot of weight aft, and I would think they would help get on plane at times, but more importantly let you stay on plane in the 18-20 mph range when conditions aren't great but you still want to keep moving.

I'm very interested in that hull, I've wanted a Cuddy for years but just keep hesitating to pull the trigger. I talked to a guy near me with one for sale, he repowered with a 318 and I was questioning it, figured with a hull that size it would be nice to have a big block for the grunt and to be able to cruise at lower rpm. He said he disagreed, that the 318 or similar type small block is perfect, you aren't trying to go 40 mph and the efficiency and range of the small block was an advantage.

I want to see if this thing can surf! Move those tabs out a bit and you've got a surf system. Have you thought about adding a platform onto it?

Well, after running the engine model number, I have figured out that this is a 305 (5.0), not a 350 (5.7) like I was told.

HP on my engine is 220.

I should have run the engine number before buying. I probably could have used that as a bargaining tool.

Oh well. At least it runs. It is my own fault for not verifying.

We skied and surfed behind John Morrow's FN right there at Reid's place about 10 years ago, had about 8 or 10 guys on the boat so used body weight as ballast, lol, did that after doing some 5 and 6 man barefoot runs behind Curtis' BFN.

Like I posted above, you might find you like the fuel sipping character of the small block. Not sure what your plans are for the boat. I think a 454 bellhousing pattern is same as a 305 and 350 - not positive, but believe I've read that. If so ........
