Very awesome boat! My first G was a 2014 G23. You are going to love it - the company, tech and fit-n-finish are 2nd to none.

Congrats on that boat. I thought the asking price was very good! Assuming its in good shape, I think you got a great deal! Did you inquire if the shaft has been upgraded in it?

I haven't heard anything about the shaft either. Something to look out for?

After the release of the Gs there was a rash of shafts that sheared off just above the prop. Nautique has apparently issued a list to dealers of 2013 model hull numbers that received shafts from a faulty batch. The replacement of the shaft is covered under warranty. Not a recall though. Whether a recall or warranty is the right way to handle this has been the subject of debate on this site. Regardless, the fix is to replace the original 1 1/8" thick shaft with a thicker 1 1/4" shaft and a new prop since the old one won't fit on the larger shaft. Two ways you can know if your boat has been addressed. First you can check and see if you have a 1 1/4" prop. If so, you are set. If not, ask your local dealer if your HIN is on the list.
If you are the second owner of the boat you are eligible for warranty transfer. If you are the second owner and its on the list, I would highly recommend you pay the $300 dollars or so and transfer the warranty. There is a limited time window to do the warranty transfer. See the last page of your owners manual for info. If you have an affected boat the warranty will cover the material costs for replacement of the shaft and a new prop. You will be out of pocket for the labor which isn't too expensive. At least in my case it wasn't.
Also if you are on the list and get a new prop, that would be a good time to consider a prop of a different size the original. Many including me have repropped the 550 with good results.
