Any issues to check on a 230

I don’t know what if this is the right place to post but I’m wondering if there is anything that I should check on any inboard or specifically the 08 230
    thanks

Nope, pretty solid boats. No specific issues to that model that I am aware of. Just check the standard stuff as you would for any inboard.

speaking from personal experience i would check the following.

stereo: ALL speakers, put a finger on the cone and make sure it is working.

      all lights

serpentine belt assembly. also check all the bolts on all of the pulleys. alternator bolts like to back out of the heads on the 6.0L. ask me how i know.

ballast pumps, fill, empty, gauge levels/sending units. i've had a sending unit get stuck after i installed additional fat sacks on top of the stock stern ballast. i think what happened is both were relatively full, hit a big wave, additional weight caused the tank to distort down enough the sending unit bottomed out and kinked/bent. it read high from then on out, as the float was above the kink, and the kink was high.

filler cushions? combo/flip seat? go through all the upholstery.

gel coat walk around. rub rail inspection.

fiber glass. i like to open all the cushions hatches and stick my head in as many places as possible. all check from the ski locker forward and from the bow back down the gunnels if that makes sense.

tower bases for gel coat cracks. if you can inspect the hardware, do some.

just see as much as the boat as possible, inside and out. even if its been maintained by a DIY'er, there should be some sort of record of hours or date.

edit: MOTOR BOX HINGES. get in there, inspect. i've had hardware come out on one side, motor box was weird and uneven, found out later why.

also the flip out sun pad cushions. the 230/36 like to eat the sunpad cushion bases. they were made with honey comb fiberglass and it can often fail due to the stresses of the unequal hinge system. basically, the hinge pressure fractures the backing, then you are just folding the broken fiberglass comb on itself from there on out.
