2001 Super Air Nautique Restoration

As it starts to get cold here in Australia it’s time to start my restoration on my 2001 SAN.

I brought it about 10 months ago and didn’t have much money to spend on it ( as we had our wedding on in September last year) so I brought what I needed to get it running ok for summer had a awesome summer with but now it’s time to get serious and clean it up and get it to the way I want.

I have been reading everyone’s posts about the same models and has been very helpful I have a few questions to ask as well.

im just wondering if anyone would know what raw water pump mine should have? (Gt-40) The one on it now just looks so wrong it’s held on with a bit of aluminium angle and does not run inline so I have been chewing my belts and they have been snapping. Also it doesn’t seem to have enough power to suck the water up from the pick or I might just have it plumbed the wrong way, I would love if anyone could share anything with there setups.

thing I’m going to do to it during the resto are
- new upholstery
- new carpet
- pull the motor out and clean it up , I have already Replaced the alternator, starter motor , transmission oil colour,I have rebuilt the water pump but I want to swap it over to the original water pump.
- I’m going to have a crack at fixing the gauges, if that doesn’t work I will replace them.
- also want to getting my perfect pass working ( think I might need to replace it as no buttons work on the display)
- want to clean the ballast system up as well, I put it in myself at the start of the season and I just need to change a few things on it now.

Can't wait to see the progress. I love the color, and the colored top deck, too! My blue one is like that, I guess it was only offered some years and not others.

Good luck! Lots of good guidance here. Are you replacing the carpet? Or going with a SeaDek or similar product?

Im just going to put carpet back in it. Would love to put SeaDek in it but it just cost's so much.

What a great color combo, I don't recall ever seeing that color before. The matching top deck looks great as well. Give that gel some love with a polisher and it's gonna look amazing.

Nice ride! Can't wait to see the resto. Just a FYI, beaching your boat like that will cause damage to your gelcoat.

so i have finally got the boat home and have started to pull it apart. Pulled the motor out yesterday came out alot easier then i thought it would, pulled it all out in one piece. Now the fun can begin . Sorry for the photos being sideways not sure how to fix them.

Well how much progress did you make over the winter? It’s gotta be about time to get back on the water there. I like the gel coat scheme. I have same scheme but red instead of green. Some wet sanding and buffing ought to bring the shine back to that green.

And if you are interested in incorporating a little bit of SeaDek...check out my post for 2001 SAN SeaDek Templates. I got my gunnels done and it looks great. Gives the boat a nice updated look without completely breaking the bank.

Its almost finished now just picked it up from the upholsters today. So happy with.
I have put new carpet though it.
have put the motor back in after cleaning it all up.
new Stargazer Perfect Pass
have put a new ballast system in it, (no photos yet sorry)
just have the give the hull some love , paint the tower and tint the window.

Looks great man. Will look very sharp once you spend some one on the gel coat. A nice wet sand and buff will make that baby shine!

I have a 250kg fat sack in each rear locker and i have 2 bags up the front which hokd about 350 kgs. I only fill the front ones for wakeboarding . When surfing i just fill both back bags and put on a homemade wake shaper, get a nice wave and the boat doesn't work to hard.
