    Don't Hate Me

I searched high and I searched low, but unfortunately... the pickings were just too slim.

A family decision was made a few months ago to take the '97 SN 196 (that we've owned since it was new) up to the lake house... for good. As much as I wanted to stay faithful to the Correct Craft family, I honestly couldn't find the right boat to serve as a replacement. I didn't want to make the move over to a V-Drive, so my choices were limited right from the start. Despite months of searching, dozens of emails/phone calls, and thousands of miles spent driving all over the Midwest... everything I found was either too expensive or too neglected. And then I found this gem... a 2006 MasterCraft ProStar 197. Finally, someone who babied their boat as much as I have babied the 196... and I could afford it!

So begins a new chapter. No worries... the Nautique isn't leaving the family, she's just headed up north to enjoy retirement. I will still be the "primary caretaker", so I'm not going anywhere. I just now get to experience both sides of "The Force" (I'll let y'all decided which is which).

You'll be back. Everyone that leaves for another eventually comes back to Nautique.

Both are great looking boats. I really like the MC styling from the early to mid 2000s, but not so much anymore.

Nice looking Prostar. I feel your pain trying to find the right used boat at a reasonable price.

We had an 06 197 at one point. Fantastic boats, and nice wakes, and frankly one of the better layouts for an open bow, where the center backrest swings out to make it easy to the front, but still retains the spotter bench width. If it still has the stock OJ prop on there, I'd look hard at an Acme upgrade. For us, it added hole shot and top-end over stock (this was with the MCX with power-slot).

And what luck to match the colors of the SN! Great looking stable you've got there!

Nice that on Indmar engines you can change the impeller without taking off drive belt. Wish PCM would do something similar.

                      Most definitely!

Every time I change my impeller I double and triple check the belt to make sure it is properly sitting in the pulleys before start up. I'm always worried about shredding a belt.

My previous boat was a MC Prostar 205. I have nothing but great things to say about that boat. It handled like a sports car on the water. Never left me. Now you 2 great boats. Enjoy them both...
