1985 2700 Sea Nautique rebuild

So, I'm new here but not new to boating or Nautiques. I have 3 Nautiques right now, a 1994 SNOB, a 2001 SAN, and this big pig. I just got home from South Florida with this monster. I will have to dive into some pretty extensive work, but I think It'll be worth it in the end. Its powered by twin 5.0 direct drives and looks as easy to work on as any direct drive. I'll post pics, feel free to ask questions

Wow I had heard and seen the Fish Nautique but never knew Nautique had a cabin cruiser model at one point . How many years did they produce this beast of a boat?

It looks like maybe 3 years, its been difficult to find much information on them. It sounds like they made 18 of these, not that it matters as I don't see it as collectible. Hopping in truck now to head to shop to pull both engines.

This would actually be considered a walk-around cuddy by today’s definition. It has a V berth bed, full shower and marine toilet with macerator pump, alcohol stove and 110v mini fridge, a wash down pump, a windlass anchor, bow pulpit, full enclosure for the front part of the cockpit, tower with rocket launchers, if it had air conditioning it would be insane.

Cool. Looks like it will clean up nice. I would however be extremely concerned with the level of carbon monoxide that it will produced based on where the exhaust is located. Would certainly find a way to exhaust it under the water line.

Probably a good idea, those 4 chrome “tips” you see are not the exhaust however, those are deck drains. The exhaust is below the water line

It’s been a while since I posted anything about the 2700. So, I managed to find some “free time” to put towards this project. I finally have the counter clockwise rotation engine rebuilt and running. The work that went into that engine has paved the way for the clockwise engine. I now know that trying to salvage what came out is a waste of time.

I tried to salvage the CCW engine and ended up having to replace the block and one cylinder head, the upper and lower thermostat housing and the cast iron U shaped piece of the cooling hoses (behind the raw water pump)

I was able to rebuild the Sherwood raw pump with parts from Discount Inboard. I purchased a new-replacement upper thermostat housing from PCM. I purchased a new CCW starter and figured out the firing order by rotating the crankshaft and watching valve opening/closing (the tag was missing)

Anyhow, here are a few pics of the rust that I’m fighting through.
