Hello All,
I recently acquired a new to me 1995 Ski Nautique. I fell in love with these boats growing up going to the YMCA camp at Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas each summer; they had a ski program that I was able to participate in each year, and I told myself that I would one day own a Ski Nautique like those I rode around in each summer.
Fell in love with the shape of the boat. To be honest, I looked at all brands of direct drive ski boat of that vintage and newer and none stuck out to me like the mid-90s to early 2000s Ski Nautiques and SANs - something about the curves spoke to me!
Well, I am 38 now, a far cry from my summers as a young teen and that dream has finally become a reality. Side note: it very might as well be the cheapest, running, all fiberglass Nautique in the country! Trust me, as soon as my wife gave me the go-ahead and a budget constraint, I searched high and low and found this one a few hours from home.
I would have preferred an open-bow, but for the price, this was a deal I couldn't pass up!
I have put her into the water a few times now and she runs great, just needs some much needed TLC.
Looking forward to the wealth of knowledge that this site has offered (stalked it quite a bit before making the plunge to buy)!
Plans for the off-season include:
-- buff the oxidized gelcoat
-- replace steering cable
-- replace pin-striping and potentially all decals
-- sort out some wiring gremlins (some gauges aren't working)
-- general clean up of interior (probably can get a few seasons out of the existing interior before I have to contemplate a new set of skins - begging to rip at the seams - pictures below don't really show much damage at all...)
Here is the boat in it's current state and a picture of me (mile-wide grin) and the wife (at the helm).
