How funny is that! Yeah we passed each other on 290 several times. Sweet Sport. Does that sub have an 8.1? I hope they put a Duramax in one soon! I am looking at property up in Lake Highlands area. Hopefully I will find a lot I can aford soon!

Wayne (the owner of new dimension) used to make the OEM towers for Mastercraft but realized there was more money to be made in the aftermarket tower industry. He specified the new dimension tower for nautiques right off the OEM spec sheet, but he does make adjustments based on the older model boats. I actually drove my Barefoot down from Cincinnati to his shop in order for him to "mock-up" a tower for my model.

It does have an 8.1. It tows much better than my old 5.3 Tahoe. I wanted to get a truck with a Duramax, but the Suburban will work out better when we start having kids. By the way, I like your SS. I would l love to trade up soon.

Y'all ever go to Somerville?

I have only run my boat once on canyon, and killed a prop when I did. recently we have done most of our boating on Somerville due to how much closer it is, and we now are storing it there.

If I had my choice, I would go to Travis or Austin, but the levels are really low on Travis this year. I was there on Sunday diving Windy Point, and I have never seen the water that low. About 35' lower that normal lake levels. A few more feet, and you would be able to just about walk from one side at windy point to the park by the dam.

I have been to somervile tons of times. My wife is not a fan of the water quality of any lakes near houston, so I have to head to the Auston area. Canyon Lake is down about 7 feet, which is not bad for that lake. My depth gauge averages around 100 feet out there! The water clarity is so awesome on Canyon, you can see 20+ feet down! The corps have placed a real screwy law making piers illegal. This means you have to trailer your boat in and out every weekend, kinda a pain, but the price of property out there is still very reasonable and it takes me 3 hours to get there from Houston.

I do go out with some buddies on some early Sat mornings to the river in Kingwood. Water is glass but totally nasty!

Does anyone tried to install a homemade ballast in a super sport/210? I am getting real tired of fhat sacs, but I have just gotten into wakesurfing(Not touching that other forum!) and I love it. I need almost 800lb to get a good enough wake at 9 mph.

I will post more pics later tonight! I bought this boat a few months ago with none of the above mentioned features. I boat the boat in Ohio from a friend and have had a great time puting all the goodies on it. I traded in a 96 ski centurion on this boat, no comparison at all! I am totally hooked on Nautiques for ever!

I totally agree on the water quality of the near Houston lakes.

I have had the boat on Lake Houston about three times. One was when it was nearly new, and we just wanted to go for a quick spin during the winter. We never got in the water. The second was when I was out of work for a month. I just needed to get out of the house, and did not want to make a long trip, and the third time was when I changed the trans and v-drive fluid. I wanted to run the boat to warm up the fluids, so I went there with no interior in the boat. Man is that thing loud without the rear seats. I don't think I have ever actully been in the water on lake houston.

Now I have skied on the San Jacinto below lake Houston, and that water makes lake houston look clean. I have only had the boat on that river once, and don't plan to put it back on there. Too many sand bars n the smooth water and too many crazy jet boats the other way, and then the water gets too brackish.

We have been on the trinity, and it looks about the same as Somerville.

I agree that Travis and Canyon are the cleanest lakes around, but with a 3+ hour drive, my wife has gotten used to the less than steller water with a 1 hour drive.

Recently I have started diving, and I dove Canyon about 2 months ago. Visability was about 8' - 10' while my wife and I dove Travis Sunday, and with all the divers congregating in one area, it really clouded up the place.

As gar as automatic ballast systems, I am sure you could drop in the factory style tanks, but I would just put the sacs in the rear locker and plump them with some permenant pumps with switches on the dash. I have been surfing more than anything else recently, and I was using 600 pounds of lead on the starboard rear tank, but got tired of moving the lead in and out of the boat. I now just have all the people sit on the side of the boat with the rider. If I have a bunch of people I will fill all the ballast. If I don't have a bunch of people I will keep the port side tank empty. To get the long wave it is important to have the weight up front too. I am planning on getting a bow sack and some wedge tank sacs so I can surf with only a couple people on the boat. So even if you get a permenant system, you will probably end up messing with sacs anyways. I will say it is nice to just hit the switch, and have the tanks full by the time you get to your riding spot.

Does canyon not have that marina near the dam? I though they had a marina where you could rent a slip for the night. I remember doing that with my dad about 15 years ago, but that was before the big flood.

There is a marina at Canyon. It is called Papa Docks. Great Food there! I am not sure about overnight slips though. Thx for the info on Ballast. I have only been wakesurfing for a few months and I gotta say i am hooked. Hopefully my racks from New Dimension will be in this week that will accomadate my 5'11" Landlock. That board takes up so much space in the boat.

Never been to Somerville, but would like to go more places around Houston. I am scared of hitting something, so it takes time to build up the courage to go some place new.

We like going to the Trinity River, there is always smooth water. I would go to Kingwood, but I do not have a K sticker for the ramp.

We go to Travis because my In-Laws have a house out there. Plus there are no stumps to hit out there. I would like to use Lake Austin more, but it doesn't make sense to drive there when we are on the North side of Travis.

I wish I could get a better surf wake with my Sport. I still need to mess with the sacs and speed. Someday I will break down and upgrade to a 210.
