My dad and I road tripped to Minneapolis to pick this boat up last September. He is the majority owner, I think I own maybe the Bimini’s worth. We had it in the water less than 30 hours after we left the previous owners home. We’ve been able to dial in the surf wave, as well as our slalom speed and line lengths. Much more functional for our young family of 6, and our bigger family of 13 grandkids age 9 and under than the 2004 SN206 it replaced. Sacrificed a little skiability, but I think worth it in the end as we are never going through the courses. We’ve put about 20 hours on it since September last year. Had 91 on it, came with a heater which wouldn’t seem that useful in SC, but it made those early weekends more enjoyable for the kiddos. Built our own air dam which worked even better.

Congrats on your GS! We bought our 2020 GS22 last June and put 67 hours on it though October, not bad since our lake home is a 5+ hour drive away… enjoy the new boat, we ski and surf and have found that the ski wake is actually pretty decent given how fantastic the surf wave is. And for what it’s worth, we store our slalom skis in the surf pockets!

We plan to add some surf pockets next winter. We actually removed our racks because the design of our dock actually caused us to strike the boards or racks on the roof support poles if the racks were rotated out. Naturally the best thing to do is rotate them in, but then I’m stopping every time to pull both sides in, everyone trying not to hit their heads on them. And even then, I still forgot twice and hit them. And I’m probably the most cautious captain. We can fit 3-4 full size skis in the trunk locker on each side. The surf boards don’t fit quite as well.

Nice looking boats! Any shots of the slalom wake? I’d love a boat that had a great slalom wake and a decent surf wave. Some day…..

I’ll see if we can get some today. It’s definitely not as good as the 2004 SN206 we came from, but it is definitely skiable. We made a custom profile at 34mph with the NCRS ski assist, and 150lbs of ballast in the port tank to level it out. We ski full rope to get behind the rooster, but I think if we went 36mph and maybe 22’ off we could be in front of it. It does seem quicker and easiest hole shot than the 206 if you can believe that. There is a little more of a trough outside the wake. My dad is skiing a little less aggressively than me these days so he drops into that trough, but I tend to be a little more on edge and kind of skip over it so it doesn’t bother me as much. Either way I don’t think the boat limits me, it’s only me limiting me. We’ll see if we can get some wake pics today

i have had a GS20 and now a GS22. I am still trying to find the good combination of line length and speed for the best ski wake. struggling a little bit. The 22 actually seems to have a better wake than the 20. Our last boat was a 2000 Air Nautique and had the sport TSC hull. That boat had a great ski wake.

Someone asked about the ski wake. this is the wake at about 34mph. This is with my family of 6 in the boat.

Found this picture of my dad’s first correct craft, I think it’s a 70’s era but I can’t remember what year, maybe ‘74? Learned to ski behind this boat. Sold it in 95, when to a MC pro star for 10 years until we hit a submerged floating dock ramp, and went back to CC with the 2004 SN206.

                      Hi

That is a nice boat! I am seeking opinions on the ski wake of the GS20 vs the GS22. We're about to take the plunge into our first Nautique and skiing is our priority, but we want a v-drive for the room and versatility. I would appreciate any comments you all may have.

                      Thanks!

My apologies for not seeing this sooner. I ski pretty aggressively, and the wake took a little getting used to, but its definitely skiable. Is it as good as our 2004 SNOB? No. It does affect my 68yo father more than me, but that may be an age/wisdom thing more than the boat!

there are times when I think about finding a used dedicated ski boat, but if I were going to do that, I would only consider something with a closed bow. My point being, is if I were gonna spend the money, the SNOB we had is not that much better to justify the cost. So if I was gonna spend hard-earned cash, it better have the flattest wakes out there. Otherwise, I am satisfied enough with GS20.
