Been wanting a water sport boat for a while and decided to pull the trigger this year. Came across a 96 ski Nautique open bow with a GT40 in Kelowna that was original owner and maintained its whole life by a race boat shop so it was really good shape. Soon as I got it I got giddy and started dumping money into it so I just thought id make a thread to show it off.
Previous owner put in Perfect Pass, a Monster MK1 tower w lightbar, mirror and a bimini, hot shower that runs off the heat exchanger, mood lights under the side boards, 3 port DC outlet and most importantly replaced the rear seats with a ballast box housing 2 450lb fatsacs on a two way pump attached to a dash switch w an overflow hose coming out the top of the transom. Took the seat cushions from the rear seats and made a makeshift sunpad on top of the ballast box that I’m planning to replace with a one piece sunpad eventually.
Did a full service on the boat and trailer soon as I got it home, did all new belts and fluids and standard trailer tune up. Also immediately started modding it, did 5% carbon ceramic tint to give the cockpit some shade. Old sound system was pretty clapped so I redid the whole thing, all new inboard speakers, 2 10” subs in sealed enclosure under the spotter seat, new 1200w amp, pair of 2x6.5” speaker w 2x1” tweeter Samson sport tower speakers and a new headunit. Replaced the battery at the same time w the most powerful one I could find in the group. Bought 2 red Yeti coolers as drop in seating, one tundra 45 for between the motor cover and ballast box and one roadie 24 for behind the drivers seat as an extra spotters seat (mainly serves as a wildly overpriced garbage can). Both got white Nautique decals and white Oceansouth seat cushions and I got two red Nautique logo patchs made to stitch over the oceansouth logos. The old allenkey racks got replaced with black Monster combo swivel racks, also did a colour matched vinyl name decal on the transom (perhaps my fav mod). Got new branded trailer guide cushions and spare cover as well. Pretty well done w the mods for the season now as I’m happy with it.
Been having a ton of fun with it this summer, been super reliable. Makes a pretty decent wake with the bags full and a shaper so for a first boat I’ve been as happy as can be with it.
