Great looking boat. I just bought my '91 BFN back after a couple (subsequent) owners ruff'd it up a bit. I'm the 2nd and 5th owner, I guess. I would like to know some other BF/Excel to bounce ideas and ask questions. Again, awesome boat. I'll post a boat picture as soon as I get this website figured out.

"Mine shaft is bent"sound like I'm German. Edit,Ed
Great. I tried to post a picture but the file is too big. I spent lots of money on a custom tower and trailer when I owned it the first time. Luckily, they've escaped harm. For the most part they just need cleaning. I'll see if I can find Joelhern2's boat pics. I spoke with a '91 BF owner years ago that had shortened his propshaft 1/2" in order to put an OJ 4 blade on it. My prop shaft is bent, so I'm going to have to buy a new one...I thought about going ahead and doing what it takes to run a 4 blade, but I 'm not sure I'm willing to sacrifice top end. Just a thought.

RE: "Mine shaft is bent"sound like I
Brian, Glad your '91 is back in the family.
I've looked around for a 4 balded prop and found that Acme makes one that fits 91-94 Excels?BFNs without shortening the shaft. Apparently the problem was that with the amount of cup typically present there was only a fraction of an inch clearence between the prop and the rudder which affects handleing. Bill Weeks (?) at Acme has a 4 blade with a little less cup than usual and is supposed to avoid that problem. I forgpt the prop number though.
May not be the ultimate solution but it keeps from having to cut the shaft.

Thanks. I wonder what the characteristics of that prop are (without the cup). I noticed Joelhern2 mentioned having a 4-blade on his boat. I wonder if it's the Acme you mentioned...or if he modified the shaft. I also noticed that "Wakeslayer" has a '91 BFN that he put a Python Engine in. That's probably an awesome combination. Mine pegs the 50mph speedo. His will probably do well over 50mph AND pull up tree stumps. That engine was advertised to have 500hp and 500+ foot pounds of torque.
I appreciate all the information.

campbelljo I think we have now officially hijacked your thread. Sorry about that. But your boat looks so good it motivated me to start detailing mine! I sanded down the swin platform and it looks a thousand times better.
I started a new one with some ballast questions.

Thought i would go ahead and chime in. I do have a 4 blade prop on my BFN, but I don't remember which model off the top of my head. Ill take a look and post it later this week, but I didn't have to modify anything in order to accommodate the new prop and I absolutely love it...it has been well worth the $$.
I actually just had the upholstery shop finish a complete interior job on the boat and it is awesome...basically a brand new boat now. Ill post some pictures here soon. They even stitched-in the Nautique "N" logo which looks killer!
