Nautique bimini options

Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the Bimini options offered by Nautique. The spot where I boat 95% of the time is approx. 30 min away and travel about 60mph. Once or twice a year we travel to the lake of the Ozarks which is approx. 6 hours away and would possibly travel at a higher speed. I'm currently able to put my boat in storage without lowering the tower. I'm in southern Iowa, so our boating weather varies from cool days/mornings to hot summer days. Esthetically I like the looks of the Z5 Bimini, but like to functionality of the Bimini with surf pockets. On the new 2017 G Series the speakers have down lighting and wasn't sure if the Z5 would obstruct it? Is one more durable, able to travel with easier...any thought or ideas are appreciated.

The Z5 will definitely obstruct the lights.

I have had all three on various boats. If you don;t have to lower your tower for storage or to go under bridges on the water, the Z5 is great. I like to use a tower-down cover when I tow my boat, and the Z5 is a pain in that situation because it has to be completely removed, and one of the two arms also has to come off before the tower can be folded. If folding the tower isn't a concern for you, than this won't matter. The only downsides to the Z5 will be price and the blocking of the speaker lights.

The other two work well too. I have never had a problem with any of them.

When I bought my G, I had them swap out the top with the surfboard pockets for the "standard" top. The one with the surf pockets made the cockpit claustrophobic imo.

Standard bimini is rock solid at highway speeds when folded and covered. Mine traveled FL > NH with it.

For a couple hundred bucks you can have surf pockets sewn onto the stock Bimini, did it to mine and it works perfectly.

When I bought my G, I had them swap out the top with the surfboard pockets for the "standard" top. The one with the surf pockets made the cockpit claustrophobic imo.

Is this true??? I thought the Bimini with surf pockets was the same as the standard Bimini except for the surf pockets on top of the Bimini. I thought the under side was the same on both biminis.

Btw, I don't really like my Z5. It rattles too much and the head clearance is too low.

I'm guessing you're talking about the Z5 Bimini?....

Probably so. The one originally on the boat sat under the speakers and had surf pockets.

If it was below the speakers then it must have been the Z5.
