I purchased a used 2015 bimini that came off a 210/230 for our 2017 G21. The bimini fits fine but I am having a tough time figuring out what the gas shocks are for and how to get them attached as they do not seem to want to compress. Can someone provide guidance on how to attach them or provide a picture of how they are mounted? Here is a picture of what I am referring to, the shock in the picture is attached at the rear mounting point and disconnected from the front mounting point:

They do compress, but you need to press really hard with a lot of lever power. They are supposed to get the bimini up in the air, so that when you put down the tower the bimini is horizontal. Try to attached the bimini in a vertical position (shock not compressed). That is the bimini reaching the sky. Then you can try to push the bimini back in the horizontal position by climbing on your tower and pushing the shocks toward the front of the boat (bow) by behind. You really need to push hard as far away as you can from the pivot point to get some lever power.
Another way is to put your tower down and mount the bimini in an horizontal position with shock not compressed. When done, lift the tower up and try to keep the bimini in a horizontal position. The weight of the tower and tower shock will help you compress the bimini shock. Way easier to compress the bimini this way, but I guess way harder to attach the bimini.
Hope this help

As xxrb2010 said, they should easily hook up to the ball joint when the tower is straight in the air. Be careful lowering it so you don't bend the shocks. Also, if you lower the tower without the shocks on, be super careful that the bimini doesn't scratch the windshield!
