    Finally, new cover.

Finally ditched the old, terrible factory cover for my '03 and had my local canvas guy make me a new one. It's a single piece bow to stern, goes over the bow and snaps around just above the rub rail, because it rubs on a dock all day every day. Couldn't bring myself to go over the swim deck because I know I'd end up in the lake trying to cover it. But I did already have a row of snaps just under the rub rail, so I had a side piece made up for the side that faces the sun most of the day. It's visibly faded more on that side just a year out from being buffed and waxed (I know I should wax it every spring but... life). This should keep it looking good for many years to come.

That blue color sure looks good but man, it fades. This thing cost a pretty penny but it'll be well worth it in the long run. I love a good cover, and I'm very happy.

Thanks, I love the blue too and I'd like to keep it looking good without a ton of work every spring. My old boat had some thin spots in the gelcoat from being buffed so many times, wet sanded a few as well.

I say it all the time...the standard in covers should include skirts...and throw in a galvanized trailer. Love the boat colors. I see you can install the cover and secure and step off from the platform to dock. Works great.

Certainly with solid colors like this, a side skirt is going to pay off in the long run. And yeah, I struggled with the decision to cover or not cover the swim deck. In the end, "restoring" just the swim deck will be pretty easy, compared with years of trying to get the cover over it without falling in the lake.

Two notes on the side skirt: It's easy to forget to take off, as you can't see it from inside the boat. I often take off the main cover, then kids distract me with one thing or other, or I start putting other stuff in the boat, or spread out the rag towels I keep in the boat, or something. Twice I've idled away from the dock with it still attached. I didn't get far, but I felt like a dope.

The other thing is, three times now I've seen GIGANTIC spiders hanging out behind the cover. I never should have told my wife because she immediately said "I'll never take that cover off!" It's been a week since I've seen one, but we've been in the boat every day... we'll see.

I have skirts built as part of the cover so its all 1 piece and quick to install. I go over the tower becasue its easy to install, protects the tower and speakers and the big one is it always sheds water.

I'll take spiders any day. I had a problem with a water moccasin coiling under the cover when I left it on the dock.

Over the tower is certainly one way to solve a lot of common issues. I don't think that would work very well for my boat with the board racks that don't spin in. I'm actually surprised you don't see more of them, especially with towers that well exceed the cost of a decent used boat on their own.

Evolution Covers makes a really nice swim step cover for reasonable price if you still want something for the swim step. I made a template of mine and sent it too them but they may already have yours. Will keep UV off the decking and keep it looking better IMO. Nice tight fit, I have trailered with it many times including a couple trips to TN and never an issue

For the swim deck cover? If that's what you're asking, I'm curious too.

For my cover, the local custom shop charged me $2,200 for the whole thing, including the side curtain thing. FWIW, it's been fantastic - we got three inches of rain overnight a few weeks back and the boat was absolutely DRY the next morning. That's worth a lot to me. The side curtain is great except I've found that very large spiders like to hang out behind it.
