    Sunshade Extension

I was In a cove on a hot day last week on my 230, and we were all fighting the sun trying to find a spot under the Bimini. I noticed the Paragon has a sun shade extender which seems pretty cool. It also seems super basic. Has anybody put something like this together for their boat, or know of a universal solution that nicely integrates on the Nautique?

Nautique boat owners facebook page has a post on June 3rd from someone that made one from a couple rod holders and a bimini extension and it came out great!
check it out... Just search paragon sunshade and you'll find it.

I am also interested for a 2004 Air Nautique. I rigged something up last weekend with a tent rain fly and poles but really need something better made for the boat. I will check out the suggestion above but am curious if anyone else has figured it out for the older models.

From what I can see, the most challenging part is the mounts. I don't personally want to use rod holders, it would be great if there is something that looked more integrated. Once those are set, you can purchase blank carbon fiber rods in any size. The top could be easily sewn up by an upholstery shop. This might be a winter project.

they are a pretty common option with center console ocean going boats. I bet you could rig some mounts that are flush or close to it like the phender pro system, and reinforce it underneath. After that, seems like a zip on or velcro attachment would be pretty straight foward. I'm thinking you can probably buy sailcloth like they use on outdoor patios at restaurants or playgrounds and retrofit. would be interesting to see.

our old boat didnt have a bimini, and the new one does, so we are excited to have anything!

Resurrecting an old thread. I recently replaced the factory Bimini on my GS20 and new one came with the clips extended sunshades. I'm interested in retrofitting the rear sunshade with the factory option. Has anyone done this, if so, what parts were needed? I'm thinking that in addition to the sunshade, poles and mounting brackets would be needed. Also, where would the best place and (price) to purchase these needed items?

I recently bought a GS22 and the prior owner had purchased this sunshade extender. It works nicely. It’s from Sewlong.com. Don’t know how much it cost.

I picked up one of these as well from https://www.shorelinebrands.com/. The fabric is super stretchy material with nice reinforced velcro strap for the tower side of the mount. Can't wait to get our 230 out of storage and put on it.

Just got one for my GS22 and seems like it is going to work pretty well. I have been up to 15 mph with it on and not issues yet.

this one is much better for the new boats because the mounts are on the side of the tower so it doesnt interfere with the main bimini when you want to deploy it. From what I understand though it is much more expensive than the $600 or so dollar shoreline brand extension.
