I’ve owned my 2014 G21 for a grand total of one heavy rain event, which was 3-4 days of steady rain. We got about four inches all told. When I took the cover off to let the boat dry out, I discovered several gallons of water sitting inside the bimini boot. This gave me an explanation for the mildew I found on the underside of the bimini and inside the boot. I’m pretty sure it’s the factory boot on the factory bimini. The water pools inside the boot on either side of the vent strip. Is this normal? How do I prevent it? It’s just secured by velcro straps around the back and they’re tight. Did they change the boot on newer boats to do a better job keeping the rain out?
I’m replacing the cover this winter. If I need to replace the boot I’ll add it to the list, but I need to figure out how to prevent this first. The pic is after things were dried out.
