    Z5 Bimini Towing

    Hello,

I am about to purchase a 2015 Nautique G21. Assuming the deal goes through I will have an 8 hour tow home. I am very familiar with the Folding Bimini, as I have been on G's that have that bimini. However I am not familiar with the Z5. Thus I have read some threads, and have some information, but I was wondering if anyone had some examples of the following.

    1. Pictures of how they take the canvas off of the bimini.
    2. Do you leave the frame on when you tow?
2.5. if so, do you secure the frame in any way when you tow.
    3. Because I need to fold the tower down in my dock, I plan to sell the Z5 bimini and order the folding bimini. How much was this option new in 2015? How much is the folding bimini replacement?

Thanks in advance for your time!

I just towed 1500 miles round trip and would never leave it on for that distance or anything over 55mph. I would remove the fabric and leave the frame on the boat, No need to do anything else. It's a simple process.

For the future and to make it easy I added a couple quick connects to the rope that holds the bimini so I would not have to fish the rope though the pockets.

You can lower an FCT with the bimini a fair amount if your bridge is not so low. The Z5 if bar far the best bimini I have ever had although I have not used any of the newer foldable types.

I have been informed that the Z5 was design to be towed, but only when the front straps are properly secured to the cleats.

            Hello,

I made the 7 hour trip no issues. I did have the front straps in place, and it seemed to work like a charm.

Thanks for all of the input!
