Can a 93-97 wake be surfable?

I want to get into surfing a lot more this year but I am unsure about a DD and surfing. I know there are similar boats out there that are surfing it, but how do you weight them and do you have any pictures of the wake?

TRDon I have a 97 sport and we surf with it. I weight it differnent depending on the people in the boat. The best result i have had i put a sac in the ski locker, on on the floor next to the engine on the side we suft, one behind the engine and if it is just my wife and children i sometimes put one on the back seat. If the boat is full with 5- adults and some kids the locker and the one next to the motor usually works ok. The wake is ok and we have fun with it. We found getting a fast board made the biggest difference.

tski, do you always ski on the same side (port or starboard)? Or is the wake the same size and shape on each side? I forget which rotation the prop is on those nautiques.

You can get a very nice surf wake on the 93-97 sports. The driver side will be easier to get. You will need to add as much weight as you can to the side you are surfing on of course.

You can surf or sit as in this pict taken behind my 94 sport...

Wow, how do you have your weight setup on that thing? That seems like a pretty sweet wake, I want expecting one like that. As of now i plan on 2 sacs (2x400 v drive sacks) but have no problem buying another. I was also planning on taking out the back seat for most of the season anyway just for more room in the rig.

I forgot to mention that I have a sport but I think you guys figured it out anyway. These are awesome, keep them coming if more have pictures or ideas.

Wish I had some pics, but we surf behind my 97 Super Sport. I leave center ballast full and 400# on one side in rear, plus everybody sits over there. Makes a pretty good wake.

                  I got you covered Batman!
                  97 SSN

We usually have 350lb in the back corner locker, ~500lb in the fatsac on the corner seat, and 700 in the center locker - two people in the boat - driver sitting on the glovebox, and the other passenger on the sundeck. I believe our speed was 9.5, but we're going to step up the speed next season to around10.5-11mph to see if that helps firm the lip and ease the pump for doing surface spins and airs.

But the D-Drive is a whole different bag of tricks, but it should be very similar in shape with the right weighting.

Surfing is a SSN is something different then surfing behind a 07 ski in my opinion. I surfed really easily behind the SSN 97 with just 400lbs in skilocker and 300lbs on starboard side and 100lbs on port side. With just a driver is easy to surf. I tried to surf behind a Ski 95, but with a lot of weight it was really diffecult to find the sweet spot. I think it should be easier with a Sport.

I gotta bring this back. I was attempting to surf on teh port side (which is easier for me on my toeside) today and we failed. Tried the weighting different ways and we set up 1 side sack on the side, a full fat sac across the back both totally full and a 1/2 full side sack between the front seats. My buddy was sitting on the middle sac. We tried different speeds, pitchn of turning, we just coul;dnt do it. Granted it was just the 2 of us but I thought 1400#s would be enough. What csan I do from this point. I would like to do that port side if I can but what can I do from here.

It is harder to get a good wake on that side. I am not sure we are using the same terminology but this is what I would change:

I would put the full sized sac on the floor on that side next to the motor box.
Put the side sac on the port corner of the back seat
Put the other side sac in the bow on the port side.

                        Then add:

Have the driver stand as far port side as possible
Get more friends to sit on the port side
If you can get some solid weight (I use the pop products steel shot bags) to put under the rear seats. Move everything you got to the port side.

You should not need to turn.

We run at 9.5mph according to the PP

Cool, I will try that, otherwise what do you run on the starboard side? If I have to I will go that route but it would be a lot harder for me heelside. Any more suggestions are welcome too.
