how many women actually ski a "womens" ski?

i'm thinking about buying my girlfriend a slalom of her own for her birthday and am wondering if she will benefit from a actual womens ski.seems like the only difference is all the companies say that the womens have more flex to them.if she could really tell a difference i'll pop for the few extra bucks, but if not i'm just gonna get her a descent middle of the road 64. after all she IS a middle of the road girl.just kidding ofcoarse.

My wife has a woman's ski. I don't know if it makes a difference or not. But, she likes it, so that's good in my book. It's been 4 or 5 years since I bought her a ski, but it seems to me the women's skis were cheaper? ICBW. BKH

Back in the old days the womens skis were made with a little more flex. This worked pretty well since most women tend to be lighter and ski a bit slower. My sister is pretty aggressive, she really does well on the Sixam.

I got my wife a womans ski last year, a HO Esprit. Its a good middle of the road ski and I think it helps her to have a decent ski...plus she likes the girly graphics.....I got it at Wileys, with double boots and it was pretty reasonably priced I thought

My wife skis on a '64 HO Esprit, bought it last year down in Florida, great price, great ski, she really enjoys it. Muche better for her than the old '66 ski I had her on before.

My wife and I were in the same situation till I bought her a new HO Esprit 66. She has always skied on my ski and just never looked comfortable back there. Last year with the new Esprit under her feet she is cutting faster, crossing through the wake smoother and has more confidence than I have ever seen. My thought is that wider is not always better for girls since their smaller bodies just get the crap kicked out of them when they hit a SN wake. Go with a more traditional shape ski with more defined bevels for better control and less surface to have to cut with while going accross the wake. No reason to go with HO Siren for instance unless your girl is into the coarse and making tournament improvements.

My wife is also into the looks fo things. So the girly design and color (which matches her vest and gloves) and lighter weight of her ski also makes things more enjoyable.
