    Which wakeskate and surf board?

Looking into buying these for next summer to try and wondering which one's to purchase or which one's you like, I would like to stick to Hyperlite stuff....

do you have a location such as Performance ski and surf in Orlando - the best way for you to make a decision is to try them out - what works for one does not for another - Performance allows us to demo any product we choose for the weekend and the demo fee goes towards the purchase - in my case with the kids we went several weekends trying different items before purchase - in the end the kids ended up with a byerly wakeskate and two LF surfboards

I don't think there are any of those around me... I'm guessing alot of wakeskates are about the same

I would recommend the catalyst as far as a wakeskate goes from hyperlite. Not sure on the surf board.

I've never been a fan of hyperlite skates or surfs. The skates are EXTREMELY heavy - catalyst, old byerly's, grubbs, etc. If you're just starting out I would suggest either going with the wood decks that hyperlite sells; or better yet, if you have a friend with a skate use theirs at first.

There are so many different options for skates that it is very hard to recommend just one, so your best best is just going with the HL scape (or similar wood deck) and just riding that to learn on - you'll have just as much fun on the board, but will save quite a bit of scratch. Once you know what you want from a board, then step up to the top of the line skates (Integrity, LF, Devotid).

For surfs, I've always been a huge fan of short/skim boards - they're like driving a manual shift sports car, very responsive to everything you do and have a larger spectrum of tricks that you can do with them. Whereas HL's surfs are huge, grippy, and just not my style. BUT, they are great to learn on - being very stable and less responsive to movement you'll be able to pick it up fairly quickly (you won't have to pump the wave as much).

Depending on if you can get a deal on one, I would say just go with a mid length board that will just allow you to cruise on and learn the basics. Once you get the basics and know what you want, again, step up to the big guns - Phase5, Inland surf, Walker board.

But all in all, if you're just starting out try and find a really cheap board and just ride it. You'll have just as much fun on it, but in the end will save money and allow you to purchase the exact board you want without feeling guilty about not using your first board that cost $300 and doesn't perform close to what you wanted.

They key is finding some really cheap and just trying it.....that's the rub. I have been looking for several months for something cheap just to see if my family would like it, but I am having no luck. Of course, my cheap and someone else's cheap might be two different things.

Try Trickboardz. You can buy their demo/ prototype boards for around $150-180. I have their surfskate and wakesurf Mojo.

                Cant beat the deal!

I guess I am going to have to borrow someone's to try for a weekend. My wife has a hard time digesting $150 to buy something we aren't even sure that we'll like. If we know we'll use it, then she'll be ok.

Heck for a $150 buy the trickboardz use it, then sell it for $150. The new painted board will be coming out soon for $300-400.

Trust me if your boat WILL throw a WAKE, you WILL like to wakesurf. Everyone can eventually do it, you dont get tired, you can do it on ****ty choppy days, you cant get hurt(unless you get your arm stuck in the handle..ie. dont use rope with handle), you can drinnk a beer while doing it..... and again ti doesnt hurt when you fall!
