questions about barefoot boom on v-drive

how does a boom work on a vdrive? is it a pain to put on and take off? im wanting to get one one small children teaching purposes on wakeboards and skis---several kids to teach over the next few years so i thought i would buy one

if they are not a pain---what brand? best place to buy?

I've got one on my '93 Barefoot Nautique (V-Drive). Yea, it's a pain to put on, but it works pretty good. Just be sure to buy at least one of the boom extension pieces. If not, you will be too close to the boat to have any good water on a V-Drive. I also opted for the height adjustment bracket. It will be handy if you are teaching little ones. Do you have a factory tower on your boat? If so, they (I think Seipel) make a boom that attaches directly to the side of the tower, and piviots up and down. I would consider it before looking at the V-Drive Seipel boom like I have. I've only seen the advertisements, but I've owned two of his booms and a lot of his gear, and haven't boought anything that was junk yet!

I have used our SDBM on a few different V-drives with great results. So long as you have 2.5" of non-tapered pylon in the rear of the boat, you can clamp this on and have the same adjustability that you have on a standard direct drive.

This also allows you to position the boom at any height very easily.
