RE: what suit do you use and how cold
I have a Billabong spring suit, but won't get in any water under 65! I'm probably a baby but can't stand being cold! Born and raised in the south! Would actually prefer to live somewhere where I could use my boat year round! They let too much water out from the lakes around here. I had to winterize my boat earlier than I want to because of the levels. All the ramp docks are gounded! I have a hybrid drysuit by Oneil, you can get one from Overtons for $350 or so, some of the ski shops here carry them also. The Bottom is a thick neoprene, the top is baggy so you can fit a sweatshirt or longsleeve shirt under it. I pretty much just slalom and I think it works great. The coldest water I have ski'd in it was 52. The only thing that got cold was my hands and feet.98' Sport Nautique

I have two suits the one that gets the most use is an Oniell Heat 4/3. I've worn it in 40 degree water (not that smart but not that bad either) It handles 50 degrees no problem.
Since then I've also picked up an Oniell Psycho 6/4 with attached hood. This suit is ridiculous, super flexible and very very warm but to be honest I don't use it that much. I seldom actually need a hood, I keep it around since its paid for but the Epic is my suit of chioce.
A good pair of cold water gloves is a good idea too. The neoprene diving gloves from Oniell are not very durable and they are so thick you feel like the handle is a baseball bat. I think H.O. makes a pair called the Element, I've got an older pair of Straight Lines that have neoprene across the back of the palm and fingers.Sold my boat to buy a house, the house is much less fun.

I use a O'Neil Throttle which they dont make any more. The closest you can get is the Ski Warm Sahara. I skied on Friday with 39f water and 41 air. No problem. Hands are the only thing that makes the sets short. 1 inch of ice on the lake today, so sewason is over.
If anyone knows where I can get a closeout Throttle that may be at some ski shop somewhere, let me know. I would like to get another for when mine wears out.Life long Nautique guy
Will ski anytime.

Gride,
A couple weekends ago the water was 55 degrees in the delta. I rode with a 2mil short sleeve wetsuit shirt and JetPilot crown jewel neoprene lined shorts. Outside was nearly 75 degrees so I felt a little jolt when I first entered the water but didn't even thing about it when I fell. My dry suit stayed in my storage compartment all day.

I ski here in MA into November as late as I can push it, which usually means water in the low 50's with 50 degree air and my ripcurl 4/3 hbomb works like a charm,it's a top entry and is as tight as a drum, no water seepage at all.2018 Ski Nautique 200 TE, H6
