Sunglasses - What Do You Prefer

Since the holidays are coming and people are always looking for gift ideas I was wondering what your thoughts were on sunglasses. What brands or types do you prefer or have had good luck with.

I have found Costa Del Mar’s to be pretty good, their lenses are hard to scratch and they hold up good.

Ray Ban Predator. Nothing fit's so well and are more comfortable IMHO. Polorized of course. Model #4043

Maui Jim's MJ Sport series. Best value in polarized eyewear out there. I've also been sporting the Oakley Gascans for the past 2 years, before everyone in the world bought them.

^^^That's what my wife buys....and probably what I would if I didn't need prescription lenses. She's happier than when she spent more than $9.99 on sunglasses because she doesn't give them a second thought.

Hollywood...that's the right thought for me also. However, I go with the ones at Goodwill in southern IL. We are down there several times a year and at some point, the Goodwill in Marion will have these halway decent looking glasses for $1.67. When they do, I buy 4 or 5 pair to last thru the summer. Half get set on, half end up at the bottom of the lake. Works perfect for me...

I have to agree with the "bottom of the lake" theory but still... A full day on the highly reflective water is very harmfull for your eyes. Wether you get the 1.67$ ones or the 167.00$ ones, make sure they protect you well. Now face it, 2 dollars worth of sunglasses will likely not provide adequate protection! You probably spend hundreds on boards and ropes and bindings and other gear, not mentionning gas. Pay top dollar for a quality pair of shades that sits snuggly on your face and make you feel like a movie star and be carefull where you put them on the boat. You will never regret it!

For value and style I find Arnette's are hard to beat.
