Transom saver, yes or waste of time?

I have a new 08 210 and we are gearing up to attempt surfing behind it. We have done a lot of wakeboarding but all of us are new to surfing. I'm a little concerned about messing up the transom during failed surf attempts. Is this a concern or no? If it is what can I use to protect it from damage?

never had it happen behind our boat learning to surf. We use a 15 foot rope and let people pull themselves closer. I put on gator grip to protect my transom from people putting on their wakeboards like dummys and hitting my transom

      Excellent product - IMO

IMHO - If they cant control the board and are going to hit the boat - let them learn behind someone else's boat!

I think they're great. It's not like they're super expensive or anything, and it protects the boat, eh?

I agree. I've surfed a lot and only once had the surfboard ever hit the transom. It was a pretty good lick that put a small crack in the epoxy on the board, but I couldn't find any damage to the gelcoat on the transom at all. I think the gel on the transom is harder than the epoxy board so the risk of damage is small.

Now newbies with their wakeboards are a different story. Makes me cringe every time I hear that "thump" when someone puts one on.

The Nautique usually wins these battles. That said, if you are worried about it, the savers are a cheap piece of insurance.
I don't complain about marks and such if they are riding related, only if they are stupidity related.

I saw this on a Malibu I think its more for wake board protection when getting ready on the platform. It has saved my transom more than once with wake surfing. My wife made it to fit between the outer handles on my 08 210.
It has a 1/2 '' foam pad covered by vinyl . Its easy on and off without having to stick it to the gelcoat.
