How much room in CT bindings?

    Hey guys,

I bought some CT bindings at the end of last year, and I got to ride them for the first time last weekend. My feet don't quite fill up the whole binding and I can feel them moving around some. Do you guys think it would be better for my toes to go all the way to the front of my bindings or is this normal. Thanks.

Do you slide around in the boots when you land? If not, I would keep them. On one set of my CT's, one of my toes presses slightly up against the front of my boots and it is as annoying as heck. Otherwise, I love the boots, making it all the more annoying. However, if you are sliding around in your boots, then they are definitely too big.

Do you want ones that you fill completely - the answer is no, you want ones that are slightly bigger than your foot so that when their wet they shrink to fit (they don't really shrink just get a bit tighter). Another thing is if you can move your ankle at the back up and down a little without actually removing your foot from the boot (with laces, or bindings closed and fasted) they should be okay, but if it moves compleley out or too much to the left and right the boot is probably to big for you.

You want a boot that has a little give or you might end up snapping an ankle, unless you prefer the really tight, fixed bindings. But on the assumption your a beginner the best would be to speak to a mate who's a wakeboarder (a knowlegeable one at least) or go to a boardshop for advice.

Cheers man, CT bindings are awesome (In my oppinion)

i like mine to fit snug. i usually wear a size 9 shoe, but my 08 one boots are size 8's. after trying on size 9 demos i realized the stretch made them too large. the 8's stretched out just enough so that i am very comfortable in my boot and my toes are as close as can be w/o resting on the toe cap. i actually just sent this question to my dealer about the new company boots. i'll post his reply when i get it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have the LF Watson LTDs from last year. I usually wear a size 9 shoe, but these are the size 9-10 bindings. I don't feel like my feet move around when I'm riding or landing, but I do feel them move some when I crash.

hourglass: That's interesting what you said about going a size smaller, because I think I remember someone at my local shop suggesting that I go a size bigger (which I did and now I'm unsure about) due to the 'shrinking' that Imminent Fate alluded to. On a separate note, How do you like your Ronix One's? If I decide to switch I think I will be getting some Ronix Ones or Cells.

i have been riding closed toes since they came out in the shane binding in 06. i wear a 11.5. i have been wearing the 11-12 bindings since.

i have never experienced this 'shrinkage' effect, least not in the bindings. dont believe that jazz at all. if anything, over time, they get broken in and looser fitting. the overlays and material compress over time. on my new shane limiteds, my feet are pretty much at the very end of the binding. got a little toe jam the other day for the first time ever.

on my older shanes ( i have had 3 or 4 pairs now), the fit a little bigger. just crank the bad boys down nice and tight on the laces and you should be fine. toe box is not really the problem. its if the boot is just too big for your foot. you would know this within the first 2 seconds of riding them. for instance, i put on 12-13 and no matter how much i tightened them, my foot still moved around in the binding. if your feet are not moving around, then they are good.

you dont want them too small, you will end up with some bruised toe nails.

i love my one's. they are very supportive in the right places but easily pokeable w/o feeling any type of hindrance. the new baseless one's should be even better. honestly though, i'm over buying stuff made in foreign lands so im going the company route for board and boots. can't beat something designed, tested, and produced right here at home.

The reason the guy at your shop told you to go bigger size with the LTD's is because they run small because of the new footbed. I wear a 12 and can not wear the 11-12 size LTD. I have a friend who wears a 10/10.5 and went with the 11-12's.

If you want some bindings that really fit snug on your feet try some slingshots. They have a removeable liner that you heat mold to your foot. You buy them true to sixe as well. They are the best bindings I have ever had. I have a pair of d2's and pb floyds.

What highrock said is right, and if you read my entire post I said "they don't actually sink they get tighter". But If your going for Ronix's ones 2010, those are what i have at the moment, I'm a size 9 shoe but I'm in a 10 - 11 binding, that fits perfectly. Now this is a binding that i can comment on, these have quite alot of give both back and forward as well as sideways, as danny harf designed them to.

I find it easier to pull grabs with flexible bindings, but everyone's different. You can't go wrong either way really (you'll find your style eventually, boot type won't be essential yet.. but in a year if you progress well you might find a differnt boot just adds that comfortable factor, so you can do longer sets without cramps).

And the boot will get looser as someone mentioned earlier as it gets worn in, though to be honest I only experienced that with pre 2006 boots (but i only keep boots for 2 yrs anyway). My experience is limited to ronix, liquid force and obrien. CT and OT boots.

The best is to try rent a boot from your nearest cable park (if they have the ones you want) and try them out, or I don't know about stores in the USA (other members can give you advice) but here in SA their pretty reasonable and allow you to take two pairs and see which one's fit better provided you don't damage them.

Also with the boots you got didn't you get any (what we call spacers) to put by your heel to help fill the boot, if it was to big.

Anyway cheers man, hope you solve the problem.
