    Neoprene top for kids

I'm looking for a neoprene heater top for my kids...5 and 7.

Any recommendations...brand and where to buy?

I'm having trouble finding anything. Lycra shirts are everywhere, but decent kids neoprene tops seem difficult to find.

        Kids wetsuits

Kids fulls and shortys are all I have found. I haven't seen any heaters in kids sizes either.

What "exactly" defines a heater shirt?

And does it have to be neoprene?

Your kids are young, their may not be anyone that makes heater shirts that small. when my daughter was 5-8 she was a very small child we just got her a light weight wet suit. keep an eye on ski it again and e-bay. Keep in mind that both the Goru and the Intensity heater shirt tops run small anyway the Goru runs even smaller.

try XCel - never heard of the company before so not sure about the quality.

here's a link to one on Amazon.

Heater tops are neoprene, the skins and rashguards are lycra which will cool you down as it dries. I've always had the best luck with Oneill, and have gotten a few things from Eagle in Houston lately that looks good, but I haven't tried any of their suits yet. My 9 year old has been in the water year round for the last 4 years.

Here is what you are looking for.

                  http://www.oneill.com/#/men/americac...s_and_bottoms/

I've usually order my Oneill stuff from Becker Surf in CA, not the cheapest, but they have or can get anything in about a week.

Xcel has them. Look at http://www.xcelwetsuits.com/products/us/surf.

Look in the surf section, not the UV section. As mentioned, the rashguards are lycra, or a lycra like
material. Xcel has short and long sleeve neoprene shirts for kids in the surf section.

I didn't look at any of the other companies, but I'd guess O'Niell and others have them for surfing.

Thanks, guys. I'm biased toward O'Neill, but haven't found a dealer that stocks the youth neoprene tops. Xcel might be the way to go...looks like a socal dealer has them in stock. We've used lycra rash guards in the past for UV protection, but as mentioned, they cool the kids as they dry.

If all else fails, I'll just get some shorty suits....to me, it looks like the heater tops are preferable because they'll be more comfortable for the kids to wear during extended periods when they're in and out of the water.

I talked to Michele Gleason last weekend with Eagle/Barefootcentral and she has a few patterns for kids heater shirts and can make them to order. She might also have some pre-owned stuff for sale. No guarantee. Likely a group buy might work if she needs some volume to warrant building a pattern/size she doesn't have. They build the stuff right here in Houston TX.

I just got airtool junior a new eagle BF suit. ....stylin'. He should be footin on Friday. Wakeboarded last Sunday.

If interested, you can call 281-395-9751 during business hours and talk to her.

Thanks for all the advice! I ended up calling Becker Surf last week and they are ordering the tops from O'neill--but there are more options out there than I realized. Unfortunately, it's mostly special order, etc., and takes time / phone calls. Thanks again!
