After surfing a little last year, and deciding I'm going to do more of it. I decided to buy a Inland Surfer Sweet Spot. I was riding a Obrian Alias. Rode it for the first time today. I ride port, with factory port and center ballast full, a 750lb fat sack on the port seat, about 300lb lead weight under the bow seat on the port side at 10 MPH. With the old board I could let go of the rope, but if I fell out of the pocket I couldn't recover and felt like I had to focus on staying in the pocket the entire run. The Sweet Spot is so quick and I could drop back 12-15 feet off the platform and easily recover. I wasn't sure if I was buying too far above my ability, and I did, but this thing rocks and I'm so glad I did. I really didn't want to add more weight due to the other things we use the boat for. I've read other posts on this board about having trouble staying in the pocket or riding too close to the platform, so I wanted to share.

On the Black Pearl, being a skim style board it fits in the flight clips with the help of another bungee to make up the distance for the board's width; whereas the Blue Lake (and I expect the Sweet Spot and Swallow) are thicker surf style boards -- I lash / bungee the Blue lake to the top of the tower...
I have learned well on the surf style board so far...could be a surf vs. skim thing for me...2010 Super Air Nautique 210 Team Edition

I believe the LF board is the best all around board made. My wife rides her's exclusively.
I split time on that and a TrickBoardz mahogany Surf Skate.
I am a big fan of the IS Skim Moss, but do not own one. Just ride it a few times a year.the WakeSlayer

Nice wave, especially for the port side. Any idea how the sweet spot compares to the 2010 LF venture fish?Eric, Phoenix AZ

I haven't been on anything but the Sweet Spot and that Alias, so I don't know how it compares to other boards. Thanks for the complement on the wave, I think we're really starting to dial it in.19 SANTE 210

I recently bought an Inland Surfer Squirt, which is their price point board, and I absolutely love it. it is a 5' board, but is fast and easy to stay in the sweet spot.2003 SAN (current)

There is a liquid force venture fish model. I believe that it is 5'3''. I have it and like it, it rides a bit squirly (like most fish boards, wave or wake), and it is a bit quick. Has anyone compared the fish model to the IS boards.Eric, Phoenix AZ

Replying to my own post.... Picked up a new IS Sweet Spot this winter, and best thing I could have done. Much better than my LF Fish. Also put on a fresh air exhaust. Another good callEric, Phoenix AZ

best place/price to pickup the sweet spot?
So... new to this, apologize for any nube-ish comments in advance.
Grew up surfing, but no longer near ocean. Just bought a 2003 SAN TE 210. You can probably fill in the rest.
So, looking to buy a board, saw these comments on the sweet spot. Since I have experience riding, I think I'm OK to move to a more advanced board like this... (your thoughts?) Best online price I've seen is $609 with free shipping on waterski's.com -- does that sound about right? Any tips on doing better would be much appreciated as after reading several of Ers906 posts about ballast for ideal waves... it looks like I'm going to have to put some money there as well.
I was always better facing the wave (surfing to the right) so not too jazzed to learn about the better wave on the starboard side... AND of the 3 factory ballasts in the boat, guess which one isn't currently working. Got some work to do.
