    Powder Coated Z5

Well, I love my Z5 but didn't care for the stainless steel look so I had it powder coated black last month and love the results. I don't have a great before shot and the boat is still in the garage waiting for warmer weather so my after shot isn't that good either.

    Anyway, here it is...

I like the black. What is that pole near the front of the Z5 in the first photo?

The black looks really good. Great decision to powder coat it!

Did you think about powder coating those brackets and short poles that hold it to the tower too?

Thanks for the idea, getting the Z5 this summer on my white/black 230 w/black tower!!!

You are going to love the Z5, I have NO regrets! I did consider coating the short poles but wanted to keep the polished brackets to match my other polished brackets and speaker buckets. To coat the poles I would have had to remove the ends and I decided that I would try this first as I can have them coated at a later time.

They estimated $100-$150 and two weeks to do the work. It turns out that they moved their operation and it took six weeks so they did it for $100. What a deal!

The white pole in the first shot is a pvc support I use to hold the top above my mirror when I fold the tower. Good eye.

I had a weld break on my Z5 and they are replacing it! Can't wait to get it back and look into having it coated. Love the look but am worried about the black in the TX heat. Got the boat at the end of the season with the black tower. Anyone know how hot they get in the summer heat?

The metal - 130 to 140 F at rest, dry with no wind...else a bit cooler but not much.
