Need a different Wakesurfer - HELP

I have an 06 216 DD. The wake is mediocre in my opinion. We are only using a 540lb bag and I will not be able to get much more weight in there since my wife isn't comfortable driving with much more. So I am pretty much stuck with the wake that I have.

I am riding an O'Brien Alias TT 4'6" board and it sucks!!! Not the board but the board with my weight and wake size for sure!!!

I weigh in at 195lbs and 6'1". I need some help picking out another board!!

I have read and heard lots of great things about the blue lake from inland surfer but the price is a little high.

I am considering a Ronix Koal 5' or 5'6". Not sure if this is the right board or not.

Any opinions on this board or ANY other board for that matter that would be a great buy for this boat an my size? Something that I can grow with too and hopefully throw a few moves now and again.

I think the Ronix Koal series is an awesome set of boards. The added buoyancy from being a surf board style foam board is nice, and they respond very well.

The down side is durability, foam style boards just don't hold up and don't fit in board racks like wakeboard style decks do.

For these reasons we use the Ronix Cortez 4' 8" in our wakeboard school. Plus, I am a big fan of it, I'm 6'1" and about 175. It rides nice behind our 210 with stock ballast and 2 people in the boat. at about 9-10mph.

There are a lot of great boards out there and Inland Surfer is one of them. I would look at the sweet spot over the Blue Lake at your weight. The Swallow is a little better performing board than th BL also and may be better for you and your wake. The Walker boards would be another good choice. Soulcraft makes a great board but are a little less known. I have a Calibrated 57" board that I can ride at 250. It is a skim style and I really like it. I have been lucky enough to demo a bunch of boards. I have found that boards made by wakeboard companies are not as up to date as wakesurf specific companies.

+1 on the Ronix Cortex. Great overall board and will handle your size wake well. It is a fun board, but also very easy to ride.

Ok, the pressure is on now. My wife tells me I need to purchase 2 new boards by the end of next weekend.

My manufacturer options are: RONIX, LIQUID FORCE, HYPERLITE, O'BRIEN, CWB

Again, we have a SMALL Wake.

I am 195lbs and she is 120lbs.

What are the best 2 boards for us??

The smaller your wake, the larger the board most commonly unless you are light or have good skills. recommend a LF venture and a ronix Cortz (prob the 5 or 5'6" model). There is an entry level inland surfer that runs in the 300$ range

Ronix helps us with our wake school so I am bias and limited by what is available to me.

BUT! My wife who is 100lbs and I'm 175lbs. We both ride that cortez and are happy with it. With a small wake a bigger board is best. If you are more aggressive wakesurfer I would recommend something smaller. A koal would be a nice option for aggressive, and a cortez would be a good all around beginner-intermediate board.

So what size would you go on the Cortez? They have 3 sizes out this year, the 4'6", 5' and the 5'4" I think (or maybe it's a 5'6")??

I have the 4'6" for our 210 and we love it, but it may be a little small for a DD wake.

A big decision maker on the size board is how aggressive of a surfer you are and how big the wake you are going to surf is. Might want to pick one of the bigger boards based on that info.

Inland Surfer Squirt. Depending on fins, could be skim, could be surf style. You both could ride it.

On WW in the surfing section guy just mentioned selling his Walker Project Comp X 5.0. I have one and it's way faster than my Blue Lake was. I picked mine up for $240 shipped and his should go about the same. They don't make them anymore and were $325 new. They've been used at Surf Comps a few years ago.

Used boards and blem boards are so worth the money. A little knick here or there isn't anything to worry about unless down to the core.

Ended up buying the Ronix Cortex 4'8" and so far so good. I am just in the process of grabbing some 3.5" fins for the outside which is really supposed to wake the board up. I can surf it right now but think I can get a bit more out of this board.

Post results when you get some time on the board. I use a good old Hyperlite Broadcast 5'6" for beginners, small wake, and tandem surfing with the wife or kids (I actually have 2, one for my boat and the beat up loaner I give out on extended loans, it's been on 3 different boats over the past 4 years haha). The board is also fairly sturdy so it handles the beginner abuse fairly too. For normal surfing I ride an inland surfer Black Pearl (yellow bottom). It's pretty easy to spin even with the added 1.25" fins.

I had a LF Venture and thought it was very sluggish, the broadcast is a better handling board in the same size range.
