I have been skiing on a Connelly Concept for the last eight seasons - bought it summer of '96. I generally ski at 34 mph and hope to get into 28 off this season. Love my Concept but think a new ride could help me shorten the line. Am thinking about getting last year's KD CR7 from Wiley's. Any other suggestions in the $500-$600 price range? (I'm sure the HO Monza or a Goode would be nice but these are probably outside the budget). Any thoughts on Wiley's slalom bindings?

RE: One more thing
A CR7 or an HO ASX would be good skis to look at. You might also want to consider the System 8 from HO. It is softer and doesn't have a carbon top sheet like the Monza. Still a great ski though. If you think you are going to lose the weight, I have a 65.5 9500 that I would sell for $600

I went from a Concept to a Connelley Carbon Course... Was a moderate but really nice change that I would recommend. I have since purchased a Mapple to use this season (we will see what that is like going from the Connellys). Hey,
I went through the same thing last summer. I have been skiing on a concept for 5 or 6 years and really loved the ski. I am a very aggressive recreational skier. I normally ski @ 15 off 33-36 mph. Last summer I began to run the course at 15 off. I tried a friends KD 7000 and lets just say a week later my concept was sold on ebay and the rest is history. I used my friends 7000 off and on all summer. Over the winter I bought a KD CR7 off ebay for a great price.
I talked to several KD reps and said the CR7 was very similiar to the 7000 just a quicker/stiffer ski. The difference b/w the KD and concept were night and day.
I have skied the connelly course and did not like it nearly as well as the KD's. I have also skied the mapple and did not like it as well as the KD.
The mapple is the quickest ski I have ever skied. It was probably where I was not used to it but it felt very squirly and was almost too fast if that is possible.
The KD's felt much more stable with plenty of speed and effortless turns from both sides.
Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

Cops can run faster than the Homer Simpson that needs a new ski (me too for that matter, but I like donuts and beer). I suggest the CR7. It is the same mold design as the Goode, which has been one **** of a ski for me since '98. Wiley has a great rep for their bindings, I put them on the wife's ski she got for Christmas. If you can talk the War Department into letting you have hard shells, they are worth the dough. If nothing else, your feet don't get sore while you are waiting for the Wally rollers to move through the course. You are welcome to borrow my Goode again, I just suggest you try it when you are not hungover next time.

I just got my wife a 2004 KD Titanium CR7 from Overton's in Greenville NC. It was marked $799.99 but as an 04 they had it on sell for $509.00 with double high wraps. She has been sking on a HO Extreme that we bought about 20 some years ago. Should be a step up for sure.Life is Short, Live it!
