    210 Prop. 1235 or 5 Blade?

For those of you running a 1235 on their boat with the 5.7 engine, what kind of RPM's are you turning? How much ballast?

Right now I have the 1619 on my 08 210 with the 343. With about 2500-3500 lbs in ballast. Turning 3800-4100 RPM's. I went with this instead of the 1235 after being advised by acme because of clearance issues, now I wish I would of went with the 1235.

I am looking to upgrade props this year and I am really thinking possibly going with a new 5 Blade. OJ has one now, my friend dropped about 500 RPM's on their VLX. Acme is testing their new 5 blade currently.

Any opinions are welcome. Are their other good options out there anyone is using?

    Thanks in advance.

That's way more ballast than i run for riding, so FWIW, here is where you can see and compare the specs on ACME props:
    http://www.acmemarine.com/prop-list_ski-boat.php

Looking at the 1619 you are using compared to the 1235, it looks like yours is even more aggressive on the hole shot, which is why you are seeing high rpm, and i think the cup might also be part of it as well. First # is the catalog, then diameter followed by the pitch, etc...

    1619 13.50 13.750 0.075 cup 4 1 1/8" LH

    1235 14.50 14.250 0.105 cup 4 1 1/8" LH

From the Nautique parts web site I found the site (below) that mentions the clearance issue and says that the 1579 is recommended for more pulling power.

    1579 13.50 14.250 0.105 cup 4 1 1/8" LH

I run the 1579 on my 210. I have wondered about the 5 blades (saw a 5 blade thread on Wakeworld), you think you would end up getting more top end as well as having the low end for getting out of the hole saced out?

From what I have heard from Bill at Acme, you lose on the hole shot but do gain on the top end. They say with the less RPM's your running at wakeboard speed you lose some of the ability to really load up a boat.

Everything that Travis Moye said about the 5 blade lead me to believe different, maybe its the different manufacturers? OJ Vs. Acme. I will say Acme seems to be much better at responding to questions as I have yet to hear from OJ.

I'm also curious about the new props, but for the 230. I currently have a 1235 and am very pleased with it so far, but have yet to have many people on the boat, and have only used stock ballast so far. I heard from someone who should know, don't want to drop names, but a sponsored rider with a 230 who tried the 5 blade OJ and didn't like it.
I rode on an Xstar with a little ballast and the 5 blade, seemed to do fine, but nothing to compare it to. Anybody else used one of the newer props, like the 2249 or 2279? These last two are 15" diameter props which will probably on fit on the 230's, I figured larger diameter, more of a good thing?? :-)

Jeff is running the 1619 and said it was the best prop that he tested. in the "That's What's Up" thread.

No one seems to be running the 1433 which is on par with the 1235, but a .5" smaller in diamater, which I leads me to believe this would be similar, but without the gel coat burn issues.

                Acme 1433
                Diameter:
                14"
                Pitch: 14.25"
                Cup: .105
                Rotation: Left Hand
                Shaft: 1 1/8"

You're running the 1235 on an '04? How close is it to the hull? I don't see anyway to possibly make a 14.5" prop fit without it being VERY close or touching the hull unless you have done some modifications. I was looking at the ACME 1846 to replace my 1464...

                    1846 - 14 x 14.25 .150 cup 4 blade
                    1464 - 13.5 x 14.25 .105 cup 4 blade

ACME also said I could try the 2406 - 13.5 x 14.5 .105 cup 5 blade, but thought the 4 blader props would perform better. I don't think ACME has seen many positive reviews from the 5 blade offering so far.
