anyone ever add a retractable ski pylon on your vdrive?

was at a malibu dealer picking up some gear, and saw this on thier boat. I think it's trick. Since I did not want the fixed pylon on my sv 211, but would like to pull the kids with a towable, I think this would be the best solution.

    anyone?

I don't know how stout it would be if it were retractable. Better yet, have a removeable rear pylon. Have the ability to pull the pylon out all together, plug the hole and then when you want it pull it out of storage.

either way works for me, but Malibu already did it, and it looked pretty sturdy to me. Hopefully CC will come out with one I can retrofit.

The retractable pylon was on the + column for Malibu in my decision structure between the new Malibu and Nautique. I think it could be done fairly easily with the assistance of a good machinist, but it probably would not be cheap. My pylon does double duty as tent pole for my boat cover which did a great job yesterday in the rain shedding all puddles without the requirement for a center pole.

          Hey Mike!

took the day off today and detailed the boat, now if we can just get three days in a row without rain, I might just put up my speakers, and take her out.

I am going to see if I can get the setup from Malibu. and then have a welder do the rest. I think it would be trick and worth the expense.

Here's what I was thinking, a 1/2 thick cylinder, that has a pylon inside, I locking pin slides the pylon up or down (accessed from the engine compartmenet) and then twist to lock. Using the stock Nautique mounting locations on the stringers. may take me some time, but will be worth it.

Just be sure to order it from the factory with the pylon, my dealership says its possible to add it afterwards. (just the standard non-retractable one I mean) But he says that it's really challenging and expensive to do it after the boat is all put together.
