2012 SAN TE 230 - Advice on Factory Ballast Upgrade

Hi all, I want to upgrade my factory ballast to create a long, large, deep wave for wake surfing. I have heard of people achieving a wave where sweet spot is 10-12 feet long and can ride 20 feet behind boat. Want to shred up and down the wake. Mostly ride on port side. Generally 3-4 of us go out.

    Questions:

    1. Which size fat sac (length, width, height)? What weight (lbs.)?
    2. Should I integrate with factory pump? Or use Tsunami pump?
    3. Should I upgrade bow/belly ballast as well?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated?

If I had your boat I would get the complete piggyback upgrade system from wakemakers for both the front and back of the boat. Open bow sac for the front and 750's for the lockers. The kits come with all hose, clamps and connectors to plug and play with the factory pumps. Then I would get one 400 sac and a tsumani pump. That bag would go on the seat of whatever side you want to surf.

To ride on the port side, I would fill the belly and bow sac, starboard factory, port factory and 750, then put 400 on port seat and fill enough to get the rub rail close to the water. Try not to go past the rub rail becasue you take water on through the vent. A friend of mine with a 230 actually tapes off the vent so they can cant the boat even farther.

If the nose of the boat is way up in the air, you will get a really tall short wave. The more you lower the bow the longer the wave will get. that's why you still need to have some weight in the front even when surfing. Then just play with the belly ballast and speed to get a wave you like. Speed should be somewhere between 10-11.5

I have a 2011 230 and removed the port tank and plumed in a 1100 fly high bag. I also put a long 400 lb sack Unser the port locker! It is epic! We pull the gate back and go 11.2

              Hi All,

I am investigating the same thing. I run a 2010 SANTE 230 and have been surfing with a 750 in back locker and 750 on the passenger seat. The setup is "alright" not great. I have been deciding between the two setups:

              Wakemaker Piggyback setup:
750 plumbed in both back lockers
              400 under passenger seat
              bow sac

              Gut the back tanks:
              1100 on both sides
              400 on passenger
              bow sac

I mostly surf but do still wakeboard and want to be able to wakeboard when I want. I normally have 3-4 peps in the boat. I am leaning towards 1 because filling the stock tanks for wakeboarding puts off a good wake. but I think option two gives me a better wakesurf.

              What is everyone's thoughts?
