    Ski Recommendations part 2

So I previously asked about skis for my wife, got some great info and now looking for a good deal on ski for her.

This post is about a different ski for me. I realize when talking about "performance" skis telling me what is best for me is impossible. So maybe I'm looking for opinions and comparisons. I currently ride connelly concept. Seems like this ski has been around since the beginning of time. I like it quite A bit, but have never skied much else. I have skied it 67 and 69 in length and liked the 69 better (I'm 5'11 and 185 lbs) but that may have had more to do with the bindings, the 67 had hinged and laced bindings and I did not like the fit like I did the good old Stoker X. So with the concept as the baseline what are some of the things to consider for other skis?

    What speed are you skiing?

The concept was a good ski for its time, but its time has passed. There are a bunch of good ski's out there, and now is a good time to purchase one. There are several places that have ride before you buy programs. H2o training center/ seth stisher is one of the best and most knowledgeable out there.

I'd recommend you look at a Radar Senate or Senate C if the budget allows, The strada bindings are awesome....like skiing in a pair of broken in merrells. Another option is a HO triumph- make sure you look at the current version, or the HO Coefficiant. Both have good info on their designs on the webpage.

Lots of used stuff on Ski it again, and you might want to consider a 68", unless its a wider ski such as the senate or triumph.

I like to ski at 34 or 36. I don't have the experience on a course but it's one of my goals for next year. I don't have any delusions that my skiing Inabilities Rest on my equipment, quite the contrary. However, with that said, I would like to try something newer and more advanced.

If your skiing at 34 then go with the smaller ski's, I think a 69 at your weight would turn like a dump truck. All of the ski's I mentioned are more than capable in the course, the senate C being the most advanced of them. If you can find a 67 or 68 strada in your price range that would also be a great ski. Its very stable and easy to ride, and capable of more than I can take it in the course.

If your really interested in advancing, then 3-5 days at ski school is the best money you'll ever spend.

Funny you would suggest that I have already looked into a ski school. At my age it seems kinda foolish but when I decide to do something I like to maxize potential what ever that may be. I like to at the very least know how to do something well even if I can't perform it well. I would love to hear recommendations.

I have no clue about ski schools in your area, since your in Utah. I'm not sure if Nick Parsons offers any kind of instruction or not, but he spends a lot of time at Goode.

              Down south I'd recommend

              1. Coblesskischool.com April and crew are top notch. Probably your best bet.
              2. Seth Stisher at http://www.h2oproshop.com/seth-stish...harleston.html
              3. Cory Pecos near Panama city Fl http://www.skicory.com/
              4. Bennets in Louisiana http://skibennetts.com/

              5. Gordon Rathburn and amazing guest coaches : http://www.skiparadise.com/ This is where I hope to spend a week in January .....someday! He has a really good instructional video - 12 slalom drills. Well worth the money.

Go to a place like Seth's and you can demo skis at the same time. He will put you on something that works and get it set up as well.

Well a place in the west would be nice so I could drive and save the plane fair.

Question on ski. There is a local ski for sale a 2010 prophecy 68 with Enzo bindings exceptional condition for what seems like a good price. Any opinions on this ski?

Not an easy ski to ride. http://www.ballofspray.com/2012-ski-test has a review on the current model. Lots of great skiers on that site and very friendly to new users. Post up the question there and see what they suggest.

If you decide to go with a 67 inch ski, I have a Radar MPD in great condition that I am selling. I need a longer ski. It has been an excellent ski, but I ski slower and need something a bit longer.
