Beginner Wakeskate

Hey, Anyone got any suggestions on a decent cheap beginner wakeskate and where to get it. It looks like fun and id like to try it before buying something really nice.

I'd say go look on Ebay, but if you look around you can get wakeskates for 80 bucks or less. The one choice really is do u want grip tape or foam on it. Personally I say go for the foam......softer landing and softer if u bump your knee or leg on the board.

I don't know anything about wakeskates.

However, I saw that evogear.com had closeout wakeskates
for only $59.00. They were new, 2003 model, liquid force
cassette. I think they had both 41" and 45" available.

Whats your background? If you are a skateboarder, you are probably going to want grip tape. IMO the grip feels much better, but that's just my preference. Look at the Kampus K-39 (if you can wait keep checking evogear for 'em sometimes they'll have them for like $40) or any other flat deck really. As you progress you are gonna wanna upgrade to a concave skate where the top is like a skateboard. Integrity Wakeskates are the best skates that I've ever ridden and are very very high quality and well liked on wakeskating message boards. Other then that Cassette has released their Bi-Level decks, but they have had problems with the top deck de-laminating, but that is all supposed to be fixed with the second batch that should be hitting stores soon. The Integrity is more money,(then the flat deck) but you will probably never (hypothetically) need a new skate again. The Integ will last forever, and they are indestructible. The Cassette will also hold up, but eventually, it down to. Wood and water just don't mix, which will someday cause the Cassette to de-laminate...

Well then, i have no experience at all with wakeskating or skateboarding. I do wakeboard, and slalom. id like to be able to do it barefoot. Will the grip decks hurt, or should o go with a foam one???

I'd get a foam skate if you aren't going to wear shoes, grip can be a bit hard on the bare feet. Foam is a bit "grippier" and its also more forgiving, but some people like myself don't like how grippy foam is. I believe that the Kampus' come with foam tops, at least as far as I remember. You'll get hooked, it's a blast.
