    Wakeskate ..help

I wanted to do some wakeskating on new board, but didn't quite get it right. How is the starting position in the water and how do you get on the board? What speed with the boat an how long the rope has to be...questions over questions....
    Thanks

    RE: Wakeskate ..help

There are several ways to do it, but the one I’ve found works easiest for teaching people is:

Lay on your back in the water. Let the board float on the surface of the water. Place your feet on top of the board, with your heels toward the heelside edge and your toes pointing skyward. Your feet should be pointing straight up while the board lays flat on the surface. Should be a 90 degree angle. Put the rope between your feet, and take the slack out of the line. As the slack leaves the line you should start to be dragged a little. This motion should automatically force the board to come up and press against your feet. At that point, just stand up on it like a normal wakeboard.

If that method doesn’t work for you try laying on your back in the water as described above. Keep your legs bent as close to your chest as possible. Put your feet where you want them on the board. Then keep one hand on the rope as you drag through the water and use your other hand to reach behind your legs and hold the heelside edge of the board. This will help you hold the board where you want it until you go.

The trick is to just relax until the slack leaves the rope, then get in position and just stand up. Too often I see people try to assume the position before the slack is out of the line, and then they can’t hold it long enough and get out of position by the time the boat is ready.

Speed doesn’t matter, whatever you’re comfortable at. Probably run a little slower than what you run wakeboarding (Depending on comfort level 3-7 mph). Once you learn to get up and ride, you can adjust your speed accordingly.

Thank you for your answer Luke but...
I'm sorry, but I didn't quite understand a few things....what is the heelside edge and what does "take the slack out of the line" mean.
Didn't learn that at school, too technical for me.....

heelside edge-the edge of the board by your heels.
take the slack out of the line- drive the boat slowly forward until there is no longer slack in your line (rope) i.e.-the rope is tight.
