Looking for ballast ideas for my 2007 SAN 220

This year I hope to get into wakesurfing, given that I'm 50 y/o and want a low stress watersports experience. I've been researching various configurations for additional ballast. So far it seems the Fly High kit from Wakemakers is the like the likely solution. It costs $699 and uses the Pro X Series V Drive sacs (750#) and the Pro X Series Integrated Bow Sac. Here are my questions:

    1. Should I plumb the system to use my factory ballast pumps or simply buy the bags seperately and use a submersible while my stock tanks fill?
    2. Should I use the Straight Line Sumo bags instead of the Fly High bags?
    3. Should I use the Fly High Pro X Series Tube Sac in my ski locker instead of the Integrated Bow Sac?

Any and all input from the community would be greatly appreciated... especially from those with experience surfing behind the 220. I'm such a novice, I don't even know if the 220 is suitable for wakesurfing. Thanks for your help!

    Tvaleri-

The basic concept of traditional wake surfing is to gouge the water with the surf side rear corner of the boat. Lots of weight in the rear and lean it hard to the surf side. Get anything heavy on the surf side. Between 1/3 - 2/3 tank of fuel. A full tank fights you leveling you back out. 10.6-11.6 mph for most folks.

you will want a 750 or an 1100 in the rear surf side trunk. If its borderline, go with the bigger sac, it'll ensure the compartment gets filled.

can you fit a 400-700lb tube sac underneath your surf side seats? Are your compartments open enough to allow it? Of so, that and an 1100 in the trunk will def have you surfing.

then if you are feeling froggy you can add another 750 on top of you rear corner surf side seats, and 500-700 in the bow.

i would add weight in this order I described. Once you see where you like the weight you can plumb it in later.

      p!
      1. Plumb, definitely. Been there. WM will set you up with the hose, fittings and clamps plus help you through the install.
      2. I like fly high...check and compare the fittings though, also, if the 1,100 will fit you might consider those in lieu of the 750s. Just measure the depth if the storage locker the 750s need 20" and the 1,100s need 24"
      3. I went with the W721 center locker arrow sac instead of the integrated bow sac b/c I use the under seat storage in the bow. Again, take measurements of that locker and see which sac will maximize the use of the available space.

Lastly, if you're new to surfing, check out the board finder page on the Inland Surfer web site. My first board was the Blue Lake Quad Fin now I ride the Swallow v.2

I went out and measured the back compartments on my boat. I have about 45" length, 24" width, and only 15" height. Wakemakers says I should be able to fit 750s in my boat, but this appears to be the biggest I can expect http://www.wakemakers.com/launch-pad-sumo-jr-v-450.html . Can someone with a 220 let me know exactly what they're able to fit? Also, I'd imagine whatever fits in a 210 would fit my 220, so please folks, give me some ideas. Many thanks.

Im currently on the same project. We have a 220 and I'm thinking about removing the hard tanks and just using the 1100s. I have one that we used in our 226. There are several threads this in the forum. Search it and see what you come up with. Wake makers seems to be the place from what I've read but have not called them yet. Yes the 220 is said to be one of the best surf boats in the nautique line up. Again all from what I've read.good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
