My son is 13yrs old, 5'3", 95lbs. Skiing 4yrs, wake boarding 3 yrs. Ski Nautique, 2012, tower, gate engaged, 650lb sack for rear seat. Not a huge surf wake. He tried a Landlock 5'11" and it seems like a lot of board for his size. Any suggestions on a board for upcoming birthday gift? Like to stay with hyperlyte if possible, thanks for any help, tough to demo a lot of boards.

Check out the Broadcast. It comes in two sizes and the smaller one will prob be best for him although the bigger one might be easier to ride if the wave is small. If he can ride ropeless on the landlock then I'd prob go with the smaller size.Shawn

Thanks, those were my thoughts on the broadcast, he can ride rope less, starts and stops on platform. Attending a clinic (hyperlyte experience) this weekend. Didn't know about the Shim, which seems to be a balance of the landlock and the Broadcast. Not a real big wake but he does have a ton of fun, which is good after a slalom workout.

I don't know anything about the Shim but that could certainly be another option. I am sure they will let him demo some boards at the clinic and maybe that will help him determine what he likes before you order. Although he could probably have fun surfing on a pizza box behind the G23 so whatever board he rides might feel amazing to him because of the giant wave.Shawn
