Does anyone know if a Spectra Core Line wrapped with Poly E is as good as a 100% Spectra line? For sailing lines, the cover is just a UV or chaffing shield. There should be no difference in the strength of the line. Of course that assumes the Spectra portion has the same diameter for both lines.

I agree that the the stretch level of a rope is all based on the core and not what it is wrapped in. I am pretty sure the Boardco rope is made by Proline specifically for them and it a quality rope. Airhead makes a lot of relatively cheap watersports equipment. I can't speak to that rope combo in particular but a friend of mine has a vinyl coated Airhead line and the vinyl started cracking after about a year. Also the handle was not very soft. A little OT, but how often are you guys replacing WB lines?

My observation has been that as long as you keep them out of the sun and out of the prop they last a LONG time. The Straight Line spectra rope I got for HS graduation along with my LF Trip back in 99 still looks good and it was heavily used until about 08. Another straight line rope that had heavy use from 08 to this year still looks brand new. Both of those are now backup ropes since I scored a great deal on a vinyl coated Accurate A-line over the winter and so far that is holding up good as well. Just like wetsuits, neoprene vests and bindings, leaving ropes in the sun for extended periods of time will definitely shorten their lifespan. I have found that white or bright neon colors tend to help less attentive drivers to keep them out of the prop since they stand out better in the water.

My Accurate A-Line is 6 seasons old @ 100-120 hrs per season. I wont be replacing anytime soon.

I have had great luck with the Ronix square line (not sure what the official name is) and handle (North). No tangle/knotting, etc. easy to coil for storage. Not sure of the cost comparison, but I usually will pick up lines, bindings etc as last years models from the stores in the area or online retailers. Just my 0.02$

Thanks for your help everyone. @ s_kelley2000 thanks for the link, I actually bought that proline one from boardco at the beginning of the season and really liked it but one of my friends got it stuck in my prop the other day and now I am in search for a new one and was looking for a bright color cause maybe it will help! I just ordered the yellow one that was a good deal!
