Which Marine Spotlight should I get?

I am doing a camping trip this weekend and were taking the 230 SANTE to the beach. I haven't done night navigation yet on the river but need a Marine Spotlight for the boat. I don't know which one to get but I would like to have Battery and Plug options on the spotlight so that I can plug it in to the 12V plug on the boat. I would like for it to be water proof if possible. I don't know what the minimum lumens are needed for this? Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

I bought one for about $25 off Amazon about a year ago and I think it would fit all of your needs although I doubt it's water proof. It is 2 million candle power light and it can be run off a cigarette lighter if the internal battery goes out. The battery can be charged with 110 or 12V and with a full charge it will last for a very long time. I charge it up at the beginning of the season and leave it in the boat and it is always nice and bright and ready to go when I need it. If I use it a lot then I will recharge it but it seems to hold on stand by for a very long time.

I think this is the one I have, although it doesn't say if you can run it off of 12V with a dead battery like I know you can on mine so you might want to check on that. I think mine came with the 12V and 110V chargers plus another 12V power cord to use when the battery is dead.

While I don't own this one, I do have a couple of streamlight led flashlights, and have been impressed with them. http://amzn.com/B0089UZEEK

I have a 3 D cell Maglite that I converted to LED. It is 140 Lumens and the LED conversion bulb was $16 dollars it is very bright and works great for the boat. If you want brighter you can convert most MagLites to LED. I have another 3 D cell that has a 3500MHr 6 volt rechargeable NiMH battery and 1000 lumen conversion bulb and it lights up everything in sight!!! The conversion kit is $120. I get all the stuff for this from batteryjunction.com.

My Ryobi 18V metal halide spotlight shoots quite a beam. Looks like a searchlight when you point it to the sky. Bonus is that I have 6 rechargeable batteries available to power it.
