Anybody used the Ronix Eight.3 ballast system?

Thinking about plumbing in some extra ballast into my G23. I primarily surf and was using Fly High 1100 lbs sacs in rear lockers. It would be nice to have it all plumbed in. I would use Jabsco reversible pumps and put some holes in boat...

But, I keep going back to the Ronix Eight.3. Cheaper option, faster filling, and I plan on upgrading to the 550 in the next few years. Has anyone used them? Does the tube in top leak at all? Does the pump float?

bump, anyone using these yet and have input on real-world experience? i was going to go with a thru-hull system with 3 tsunami's each for fill/drain on my 3 bags, but this seems at least twice as fast, no holes, and cheaper.

Can you do this with the ronix pump? I'm torturing myself over what to integrate or integrate nothing. Thinking tsunami for front bag and ronix for lockers with that 3700 pump.. Keep me posted, I'll prob pull the trigger next week.

no, the ronix is a submursible pump. we are in the same boat as far as the upgrades--i'm going to integrate a tsunami for draining the front bag via switch, but going to use the ronix 3700 and 800lb bags in the rear.

where in CT do you ride by the way?

CT River out of Wethersfield on weeknights and Zoar in Southbury on weekends. Might get up to Lilly this season a couple times since a buddy rides out of there, but never been to Candlewood.

Well I just purchased the 800# Ronix 8.3 and the 3700 pump from Wakemakers and it should be delivered early next week. I too was in the dilemma to integrate or not. My final rational not to integrate was based on the following:
Primary use is for surfing- I can quickly switch between surf sides with the Ronix using the 3700 pump. Now matter how I look at it I was still going to spend time filling something wiht water!!
I can quickly remove it if I need the locker space etc.
It can use it in another boat for test/ weghting etc.
It can be used in the floor and positioned to adjust wake for wakeboarding.
It can be used as a non potable water storage/ supply for camping etc.

Spencer at Wakemakers was very helpful as well!

Well finally got out to use my new 800# Eight.3 and 3700 pump and I cant say enough positive about the set up. I placed the bag on top of my existing 08 210 SANTE hard tank and filled it about 2/3 full or say #600 pounds. I also ran the belly and portside tank full. With just me in the boat driving and my son surfing this provided a good surfable wake. The filling of the 8.3 only takes about 7-10 minutes as the 3700 pump is massive and flows a huge amount of water. I orientated the bag with the quick fill connection at the stern of the boat but will switch it around the next time I use it as I can see where the access port could be difficult to open and insert the pump when you go to drain the bag. Once my wife and daughter joined us later in the afternoon the wake was even better/ extended back due to their weight and position in the boat. This was my son's first outing this season and he was able to get 2 360's back to back which is great for someone who has only surfed a hand full of times.
